Just wanted ur thoughts on timmy moltzen…been playing a hell of alot better…but as it has been said he isnt a true fullback…Doesnt run it back with any strength and most of the time looks for others to run it back for him…think he is best suited to 6 and i dont want marshall playing at 7…heard the possibility of him playing centres which i thought he has done at some stage before…with not alot of success?

Don’t know why people are picking him as anything other than Fullback.
There isn’t a lot to choose from ATM but he is our best back so far this year and much improved. Don’t know why we are moving him because his taking of bombs has been his strongest point this year. His defense is decent but centres is not his place. He ran the ball on Thurs from memory so no idea why he didn’t against Parra. Why move him if he looks more comfortable and improving by the game. Good on him tbh. Fresh start under Potter has definitely helped him out.Posted using RoarFEED 2013

Seems it didn’t log me in to write that but it was Anthism if this message doesn’t say who either.
Wish it wouldn’t let me post if it was going to come up as guest!Posted using RoarFEED 2013

I believe that Moltzen has the ability to be a real game breaker if he could only keep his mind on the job and commit himself more often. He has so much speed, timing and untapped potential (the Dragons recognised this), but he is as frustratng as hell to watch when he is bumbling around, putting in half-hearted efforts and barking at team mates, which is much of what he did last season. He earned the nickname "Timid’ on here last year because that was exactly how he played the game - like he was unsure of himself and reluctant to get too involved in things. I agree with the above posts though, he has definitely improved so far this year under Potter.
However, despite the improvement, I don’t feel that Moltzen is a good fit at fullback. If you compare him to some of the more natural fullbacks from other clubs, you will see the differences between them, particularly with regards to bringing the ball back. Tedesco is a natural fullback, he needs to be there. I still believe that Moltzen would be more suited to the utility role off the bench, as he can cover the halves, centre, wing and fullback reasonably well, imo. I know people would probably be horrified at the idea of having another back on the bench after all the Sheens years, but imagine a fresh and fast Moltzen running up the middle or on the edges in the latter part of each half. He could cause some real problems to tired opposition (if we could actually get our set plays working properly!)
All that said, I think Moltzen will need to work on his attitude more if he is to ever realise his potential - I think this is what’s holding him back, but he’s certainly not the only one - perhaps he’s just a product of the culture that was fostered at WT? Moltzen is still very young, so hopefully he will grow up over the next couple of years and continue to develop as a man, and a player, under Potter’s tutelage and who knows, we may end up seeing the best of him yet.

Maybe down the track if Miller doesnt click move Moltzen to Half & Teddy to Fullback.

I think tedesco has so much more potential and should be our fullback.
Moltzen has been better but still average on my scale, and we need tedesco to get get more game time in 1st grade in his preferred position.Posted using RoarFEED 2013

Moltzen on the bench to cover injury or fatigue.

Give him a crack at 5/8 and move Marshall to 7?

Benji at 7 was a disaster RE: 2012. Moltzen to halfback and Miller to State cup.

I think that this will be the selection tomorrow.

Benji at 7 wasnt a disaster… It worked, but it didnt allow us to have the exciting Benji Marshall.
Moltzen at Halfback was a disaster every time though… The guy is a 5/8 pure and simple and will give us the running game we are lacking from Benji.

I’m so over reading and talking about Moltzen over the last 2 years on this Forum .

tigger 13 it’s not your fault either mate , i understand you want the opinion of others .

Leave him where he is until Tedesco is fully fit, see how Miller and Benji work together( you need to at least give them 6 weeks to click) If this click doesn’t eventuate and Tedesco is fit then move Moltzen to 7. Fair to everyone then and everyone has had a chance at their favoured position.

The reason Moltzen was running the ball back was the fact Tedessco was on the wing, and he may have been told that tedessco would get a crack at the fullback for about 20 mins. That would make me do things I haven’t been doing.
