Amongst all the talk about William Hopoate leaving Parra as Kearney isn’t coach it seems the contract this kid signed sees him having already received $200k, before pre season training has even begun!
That seems crazy to me. I mean paying 750k for a young winger who hasn’t played for a couple of years is already madness. But giving him 200k before even having a single training session seems a bit ridiculous! All so they can have him in the cap for 500k next season.
And some people think we make risky signings. Hoppa Jnrhas already received more than any of our new signings would get in an entire year!
What good is a winger if you don’t have any halves…!

What is crazy is that a kid whose barely started his career thinks it is his perogative to say who he wants the coach to be. If Parra allowed him a get out clause based on him approving the coach - that’s dumb on their part. If he doesn’t have a clause he should play for Parra or go on another sabatical. Seriously this rubbish has to stop.

Its Parramatta
Would anything they did surprise anyone ??
Not that we during the last of the Sheens era were much better and we are still paying for it

The only way they make a quality signing is if they make crazy deals. I highly doubt he came to Parra to play under Kearney, and if any other club makes a substantial offer to him then I can see him opting out.

Well there’s little point in making deals that are so easily unwound. If I were them I’d rather knowing who was coming to my club rather than a vague undertaking from someone that they might lob if the conditions look okay.

It’s called desperation.

So technically Hoppa has been paid 200k and is currently uncontracted (new contract doesn’t kick in til mid November I think). What if he decided to activate his release clause now and join another club? Sure it would be a grub act but contractually he’d be fine.
They may have put a clause in there that he’d have to pay back any monies paid if he reneged on the deal, but it would all get very messy. Still those Hoppa’s haven’t been known for their intelligent decision making over the years!

What a joke of a club. There second wooden spoon is no coincidence the directors there are far worst than ours. Couldn’t be at a nicer club. I think i hear the violins

Hoppa Jnr is intelligent - at least he has got a finger in the pie, a much better place to put it than Hoppa Snr’s idea
Will Hopoate is a pretty bloody good player but he won’t have the calibre of player helping him out that he had at Manly, he will struggle at Parra.
