The giant Souths pack are intent on making sure emerging Wests Tigers NRL halfback Luke Brooks has his hand full defensively on Friday.
Brooks tore Gold Coast to shreds last weekend and the 19-year-old whiz has all the pundits salivating about his skill set after just a handful of top flight appearances.
Asked about the key to shutting down the young playmaker, Souths forward Ben Te’o said: "We want to make him tackle, we want to get him involved defensively in the game.
“Just be on our toes, He’s got an arsenal of weapons. His kicking game, his passing game, so it’s just about watching some video and trying to study him and see what he likes to do.”
Fellow Rabbitohs forward Ben Lowe rates Brooks a potential superstar and Te’o also has a high opinion of the young Tiger.
“He’s sensational, I’ve seen some of his highlights, just the way he’s taking the ball to the line,” Te’o said.
"He’s definitely a star of the future, he reminds me a little bit of Andrew Johns.
“We’ve got to watch out for him he’s a star.”
Souths skipper John Sutton is looking for a better mindset from his troops after a round two loss to Manly, where they failed to back up after an first-up thrashing of defending premiers the Sydney Roosters.
“I’d probably have to say it may be attitude,” Souths captain John Sutton said when asked what was missing from the Rabbitohs performance against Manly.
“We were on a real high after the Roosters win and we just didn’t come back down and Manly pulled our pants down.”
We have come a long way since the days of Farah and Marshall being our only Strike Weapons, Now we have Taupau,Woods and Galloway up front Brooks in the Middle Tedesco at the back And Simona Nofoaluma and Koroibete on the Flanks. Plus Sirronen is coming back soon and Moses is getting Faster,Stronger and More Experienced every week. If we play like we did against the titans I really think we are a chance of winning.
