With Lawrence out the back line is:
So, when Lawrence comes back will he replace Lulia or who would get replaced? Please not Nofo or Simona. And then you have Koro who wants a spot. I’m starting to think that Koro as well as Murdoch-Masila might want to leave as they aren’t getting a start on first grade. What do you guys think?
Well a few will have to be offloaded at the end of the year as a number are off contract.
BMM will most likely be let go and possibly a long with Koro unless he can prove himself deserving of a starting spot.
It’ll be hard to keep a lot of the guys we like if we want to keep Tedesco at the club - money is not on our side.
The way I look at it, we want to be keeping these players at the club (all contracts ending at the end of 2014) but may not be financially possibly.
Possibly keep these players depending on their impact to the side:
Ava Seumanufagai (I really want to see him stay though)
Most likely offload:
There are a couple others but they rarely, if not, never make a first-grade appearance.
Like everyone else I’m hoping Rowdy finds his best again
But is he worth the reported 380 k a season we signed him for with the form we saw in 2012 and 2013
If he doesn’t find his best freeing up 380 k would help us secure Tedesco ,Nofoaluma and Sironen in 2015
He is signed to the end of 2016
On current form it would be criminal if we lost Tedesco and Nofoaluma to keep him
Selection to first grade should be based on recent form. It is us up to those players who are on the fringe of first grade selection to show, in what ever grade side they are playing, that they are worthy of first grade selection. To put it bluntly, if Lawrence doesn’t show any first grade form he should be dropped a grade until he improves. Wests Tigers have a number of players who have sufficient form to warrant them worthy of filling a vacant a first grade centre spot.
Truth is Lawrence as at best a marginal 1st grader wld be worth around half of the $380k on the open market,& if we were to shop him around (as callous as that may be given his history)wed still be paying the other half.
Not sure thats a great business deal.Probably better off as we are & hoping he improves, but importantly recognise that hes not an automatic starter based on current form & fitness.
Sad story, but thats the life of a sportsman….and the lot of a club that does the right thing & ties up its juniors to long term contracts
