Nicest player you've met

  • On Sterlo tonight they asked Hindy, Matty, Gas, Princey & Sterlo answered as well who the nicest players they’ve ever met…

    So how about you?

For me, Isaac De Gois was super nice when I met him.
I was never a fan and use to rag on him but when meeting him, nicest guy ever.
Had a joke with me about how lame Wayne Bennet is.
This was around the same time Bennet came to Newy and released Isaac.

Also got to meet the rabbitohs squad last year through a friend.
Greg Inglis, Nathan Merrit & Dylan Farrell were all nice, super humble.
    Got a photo. Good blokes

  • Aaron woods is a genuine bloke ( very likeable)lives to have a chin wag .

James segeyaro is a nice bloke and … SHOCK … I had a chat with Jamie soward ! He seemed like a nice person !!

  • Of the Tigers Rowdy ,Austin and Woodsy

My son likes Blair the most

Willie Carne ,Allan Langer and Kerrod Walters would probably be my non Tigers players They are what you saw on TV Probably helped that I had known them

Dean Schifliti was another good bloke

  • Have only met a couple of the Tigers boys. But Braith came across as the most genuine and nicest out of the 4 that I met. Others included Lawrence, Robbie and Farlow if you include him.

  • Met the U20’s NZ team a while ago when they played the test match in Newy.
Carlos Tuimavave was an absolute legend, offered me tickets and everything.
    Nice block, very respectful.

  • I havent met any footy players in person to have an opinion but seeing JT over the number of years i can say he is one of the more improved in the grey matter department
Few years ago he was so arrogant, would throw those foam Advert thingny bobs and never put them in place or never gave the tee back. He was king Poo.
Nowadays as we all know, he returns the tee to the kid and at halftime he gives his headgear to one of the kids in the crowd. - Maturity. Not sure about the nicest though

  • Tim Simona. Met him at a game in 2011, when he’d only played one or 2 games. It was the night all the islander guys were there raising money for some earthquake or something that had happened up on one of the islands. They were walking around collecting money and i walked up to him and was like ‘‘you’re Timmy Simona aren’t you?’’ and his eyes lit up like a xmas tree and he put out his hand. wrapped that he’d actually been recognized, and would rather talk to him than Jarryd Hayne who was standing 10 feet away. Nice kid.

My son was waiting on Tim Simona and Noffas table at the night of the Tigers launch this year, and said exactly the same thing - and coming from him that’s saying something because he dislikes. more than he likes.

    100 %
    Tim Simona>
He’s the man, my fav player

  • Believe it or not the nicest I’ve met is Robert Lui. Had a really good conversation with him one day when he’d only been in FG for about a year. He was very giving of his time and came across as being genuine, even asking me question about what I do and all that.

  • My Brother in Law… just for the brownie points.

I have met my fair share of players and they were all generally nice people, only had bad run ins with Shrek when I ran into the Bulldogs have a post finals series loss that knocked them out drink (rest of the team were rowdy but good for a laugh), and Braith back in Bulldogs days playing pokies with a mate at the Three Swallows… could have been problems with his mate though was a long time ago.

My Mrs had a bunch of the Tigers go every week to her cafe, she looked after them and had a great rapport with them… Heighno, Robbie, Benji, Moltzen, Beau, Halatau, Sauce… one game Heighno jumped up out of a tackle and collarded a bloke, i said to the Mrs “I Love Heighno, Heighno loves the biff”, she went to work and told him the story, came home with “I Love you too Simon, signed Chris Heighington” autograph… another story she seated them upstairs so they didnt get mugged while having a bite to eat, one day the AC was out, heat rises so it was hot up there, she went down to get their drinks came back up, and Beau was sitting there in his reg grundies fanning himself with a menu to get a laugh out of her… Or Heighno left his hat and sunnies one time, came back a few hours later and asked for them, when she handed them over, he quipped “I wasnt sure if you were going to keep them to give to your man”… she was just a service worker, manager, but they always treated her well and had a laugh.

  • I haven’t met too many. Tbh I’ve only actually met Manaia Rudolph, Tim Moltzen, Karmichael Hunt and Justin Hodges.

Manaia was briefly after a game on the Gold Coast and he was very lovely. Moltzen and the Under 20s at the time sat behind us at a game in Brisbane (the one we lost by 1 point when Hunt kicked a field goal) and they were all dejected because they lost by 50.

I met Hunt playing blackjack at the Treasury Casino. Didn’t even recognise him until a mate told me afterwards, but he was actually super nice. I had no idea what I was doing so he just started telling me what to do. Walked away with a heap of money because of it! Good gambler is Karmichael Hunt. His posse weren’t so kind.

Justin Hodges was an interesting one. It was actually outside the Treasury and I was very drunk. He was walking down the street on the phone and saw me gawking at him and gave me a nod and a wink. Then about five minutes later he came back and asked if I had a lighter and gave me a cigarette.

  • I can’t thank all the Tigers players enough for the way they treated my young fella in Townsville

He is very shy (like his Dad) , and I had to approach and ask for him or he wouldn’t have got one autograph or pic LOL

Every player asked him about his arm and how he injured it and Woodsy was just amazed that we had got up at 2.00 am to drive almost 11 hours just to see them at the airport

It almost brought my wife to tears

  • When my kids were younger we used to wait for the players to come through the gates and ask for a photo and autograph. We met Benji, Lawrence, Anthony Lafrankie, Skandalis and many more. The one that stands out as the nicest was Brett Hodgson. My 6 year old son asked for a photo to be taken with him but my camera battery was flat. Seeing the disappointment on my sons face he asked me if i had a spare battery i could use. I explained that it was in my bag, back at our seats. He said he would wait with my son if i wanted to run and get it. On my way back i saw both of them laughing and chatting while throwing the footy to each other. He made my sons day and to top it all off the team won and Brett got MOM
