Kangaroos Train On Squad...

not letting players play rep footy at whichever level is just plain stupid imo.

Yeh thats right lets put two & two together over a 12 word par and come up with 37

The Australian Rugby League Commission has today selected the following players to represent the Holden Kangaroos in the Four Nations tournament.

Ten players have been selected to make their Test debuts in the tournament, which begins with a double header at Suncorp Stadium on October 25.

“We have a really good blend of experience and youth,” Holden Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens said. “The positive for me is the experience that even the debutants have. We have a high proportion of State of Origin representatives and premiership winners and they all deserve to wear the jumper.”

Greg Bird (Gold Coast Titans/West Maitland Red Dogs/ Maitland Pumpkin Pickers)
Daly Cherry-Evans (Manly Warringah Sea Eagles/Mackay Brothers)

Congrats robbie and woodsy. Klemmer and woods the only specialist props that I can see. Others like pappali and Parker might slot in there.

Klemmer,
Mata’utia,
Hunt,
Walker,

All very strange selections.

I was thinking the same but then I thought who would they have picked??

Has sione even played 5 nrl games? Johnstons played like 20, walker has only played 1 season and Klemmer is barely in the top 4 props at his own club.

Was Crocker injured? GeeZe that guy deserves a chance. So did will chambers, Tim lafai? Idris? Mead, Gordon. It’s a kick in the guts to the players who’ve been playing for years IMO.

There are plenty of props ahead of Klemmer, including Josh McGuire and Lillyman who should certainly be in front of him.

Hunt goes alright but there is no way he is good enough to be playing for Australia.

There’s no way Mata’utia or Walker will even get a game surely?

I don’t mind Johnstone’s selection, the kid has enormous ability.

I think this is the best side we could put out:

1. Hayne
2. Mansour
3. Inglis
4. Jennings
5. Johnstone
6. Cherry-Evans
7. Cronk
8. Woods
9. Smith
10. Papalii
11. Scott
12. Guerra
13. Bird

14. Farah
15. Hoffman
16. Thaiday
17. Parker

There are players out of their regular position (Papalii at prop but he played there in the PM’s XIII) and Johnstone is on his non-preferred wing but I think this is the best we can do with a poorly selected squad. I believe Farah offers much more off the bench than Hunt does.

Agreed on Klemmer and Mata’utia, however Hunt and Walker definitely deserve a shot. Hunt was the 2nd best half all year behind Thurston and Walker imo was the best centre this year

Don’t so much mind Walker’s selection, more that I think the prestige of a Kangaroos jersey warrants more than 1 good season of form to earn it. Same goes for Hunt. 12 months ago he was unwanted.

Klemmer’s selection is a joke. Would’ve chosen his team mate Tolman ahead of him - he is the underrated one in the Bulldog pack, because of all the focus on Graham and the younger blokes.

Mata’utia is another one of those Newcastle players, who have half a dozen good games at the back end of a season and then gets automatically picked in rep sides, whilst rival players go great guns for years, but never get a chance - it’s a phenomenon I’ll never understand.
