Could someone please tell me where all the forward depth is that I keep hearing about? Our bench is pretty weak and had no impact at all on Monday night. Actually, forget impact - how about just holding our ground. We actually went backwards without Gibbs and Galloway out on the field. How did releasing Halatau, Laurie, Payne, Galea & Morris help our depth? With Payten out injured, we look pretty skinny in the depth department. When injuries hit us, we will sink like a stone.

We have the worst depth of any year we have competed in the NRL.
Galea and Payne should have been kept. They were very good for us.Our depth for 2010 is shocking. And if the good players in the State Cup are going to be ignored (until its too late) like they have been in previous years. WE WILL NOT MAKE THE 8.

I for one am glad Payne’s gone cause he’s ……gone for the season…
Galea 5 to 6 weeks…broken thumb…the list of Ex 09 tigers injured is endless…or in reserve grade…
Mataka, Akeripa, Payten. Schirnack…etc etc…There nothing wrong with the depth…
Face it Bug,your just filthy cause Sheens picks players you think shouldn’t be there and seems to ignore the players you think should…
Stop whining…where is the constuctive Bug…talk up our blokes …I know you have it in you…

Front Row: Galloway, Gibbs, Cayless, Payten, Fifita, the other Fifita, Tupou, Moors (can also play second row), Schirnack
Second Row: Fulton, Ellis, Heighington, Flanagan, Mataka, Gower, Akeripa, Davis, Dwyer
ive probably missed some too…

2010 is a buidling year in the FWDs until the boys mentioned by Geo come through. Fwds take a bit longer to get to the FG level.
Both Gall and gibbs are finally IMO at a mature / consist FG level and they have been around for years.
Moors, Cayless and hopefully Tupou will come good - Theres still a litlle injury and niggle to get over and give them a few games to get some confidence.
All comes with time.
Head up BB - Even instant noodles isnt really instant…

I reckon the Tigers have more depth this year than in previous years. Payten will be right to play next week, Tupou is still getting strength back in his knee but reckons he’ll play this year. Cayless and Moors have had long injury layoffs and will take time to get their mojo back, but provided they stay injury free, they will get there. Both the Fafita brothers are playing well in State Cup and provided they continue to impress, will no doubt be considered sooner rather than later…Al Schirnack is thereabouts, and in the backrow we’ve got Mataka, Dwyer, possibly Akeripa as well. Heck, even Ben Murdoch is even being talked up for making his FG debut later this season.

Bug, surely that’s a gee up about Payne?
Best thing we did was get rid of him, he was absolutely useless, ran like a crab and got smashed everytime he took a hit up. And of course loved giving away penalties. Dumb, ineffective, mediocre player who was no loss.
I would have kept Galea if possible, but Payne was not very good for us, he was rubbish.

While i agree the bench lacked impact in round one there were still some positive signs.
Moors made a few strong charges and showed a hint of aggression although he came up with one dreadful handling error(which can happen to anyone in round one) and was also caught out of position for one of the manly tries. Meanwhile Cayless was good defesivley and while he was poor in his first stint in the second he made a couple of decent runs.
These two are worth persisting with as i definitley see imporvement in them. When you consider the fact that we still have Payten to return, Mataka who showed last year that he can handle first grade and the Fifita brothers who should see some first grade this year i think its fair to say our forward depth is pretty good.
Compare this to the Dogs pack who have Halatau and Payne (two tigers rejects who people didnt want resigned) out forcing them to use Gordon in the backrow…would much prefer to be in our position.

Cayless : He’ll improve with time. According to Sheens he’s still close to a month from being where the others are fitness wise.
Moors : Hasn’t played a lot of first grade so we can’t expect him to be top notch right away. Needs a few weeks to prove himself.
Flanagan : They seem to like what he brings to the mix. He’s a bit raw and like Cayless is going to need time to find his feet. He will probably go between nrl and state cup most of the year.
Obviously we’ve got Payten to come back and it’s likely that Mataka, Al Shirnack and hopefully Gower will get a look in too. I don’t think our depth is a bad as it’s being made out to be. I do think it’s better than last year. The return of Fulton, the addition of Cayless and the development of A. Fifita and the other big boys at BRET imo is a step up on last year.

We have the names and talent, our coach just has to use it.
