Aaron Woods - Dally M's

Dally M Leaders After 5 Rounds:

Aaron Woods - 7 points
Ben Matulino (Warriors) - 7 points
Ben Hunt (Broncos) - 6 points
Chris Sandow (Eels) - 6 points
James Maloney (Roosters) - 6 points
Blake Austin (Raiders) - 6 points
Brett Morris (Bulldogs) - 6 points
Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys) - 6 points
Greg Inglis (Rabbitohs) - 5 points
Mitchell Pearce (Roosters) - 5 points

I know it’s very very early in the season but could Woodsy push to become the first forward ever to win the Dally M award? Everytime we win I think he will automatically get at least 1 point because if we’ve won it would come on the back of his metres and tackle count. Especially with the way JT has us now playing - our game is more about our forwards than backs. Being out in the origin period will hurt him but Inglis, Thurston etc. will be in the same boat.

It will be interesting to follow this as the season goes on.

Brilliant hoping he keeps it up . Maybe you can give us a weekly update with the counts Luke?

Go Woodsy :righton:

Wow the top 3 are all props! That has to be a first. Hope Woodsy can keep it up, it’s about time a forward won a Dally M - ridiculous that they haven’t really, they contribute as much, if not more, than the backs each week.

Been a long long time since a prop has won the Dally M, if ever.

Gavin Miller is the only one i can think off , But i think it was a different name the award
( i think Rothman’s medal)

Didn’t Petero win one?

I’m probably wrong

Mark Sargent won the rothmans medal, which is the same thing really, and Miller was a lock secondrower.
Here is the full list of winners, and no props.

Ok my mistake. Nevertheless it’s been 26 years since a forward has won but never has a prop won! So if it were to happen it would be pretty special.

And to answer your previous question - yes I will post each week the updated leaderboard

Man you are so quick with this stuff, FT! You sure you’re not David Middleton?

Ben Hunt isn’t a prop - he’s the Broncos halfback. Woods and Matulino are the only forwards in the top 10.

Oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out, Luke - thought it read Ben Hannant! 😊 I think it’s past my bedtime 😐
