NSW Cup Team Announcement: Round 23

Tue 11th August, 04:50PM

Wests Tigers NSW Cup Coach Paul Fletcher has named his side to take on the New Zealand Warriors in their Round 23 clash on Saturday, August 15.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 12:40pm at Campbelltown Sports Stadium as Wests Tigers look to keep their slight top eight hopes alive with a much-needed win.

Coming off a thrilling 22-22 draw with the Newtown Jets last weekend at Leichhardt Oval, Fletcher has named an unchanged lineup for Saturday’s crucial match, which will feature as the second game of a three-game program at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

1. Kurtis Rowe
2. Delouise Hoeter
3. Nathan Milone
4. Keith Lulia
5. Chance Peni
6. Tim Moltzen
7. Josh Drinkwater
8. Jordan Grant
9. Joel Luani
10. Michael Bullock
11. Lamar Liolevave
12. Asipeli Fine
13. Jarred Farlow

Interchange:
14. Penani Manumalealii
15. Andy Fiagatusa
16. Hala Masila
17. John Sila

Coach: Paul Fletcher

Most of these blokes won’t be here next year…

having a look at that side i would say only 4 at best can make it in the NRL.
PENI - maybe
GRANT - should
LAMAR - if he pulls his finger out
FINE - maybe
the rest have no hope.

Sadly, half of them will still be here. You don’t simply change nearly your entire reserve grade squad in an off season. That’s a lot of new people to bring to the club, and they can’t all come from NYC…

But players who are on NRL deals now might sign NSW Cup deals for next season, which would at least be a step in the right direction.

Will many of them play NRL? Nope. Rowe is about as good as we’ll get for a backup fullback though. Can’t tie up huge money in backups, and he’s decent at NSW Cup level.

Yeah I would agree aside from a few others.

I’ve read people say that Rowe has bulked up and improved so maybe he can still crack it?

Fiagatusa has to be a chance. Hoeter as a winger only is a shot. The rest need not apply.

They are all backup players only…

Most of these blokes won’t make an impression in the NRL but thier are a few who might / will

The best chance is Lamar Liolevave. He is only 19 and has played a full season of NSW cup. He is only a few weeks of being eligible for Under 20s next year so he has plenty of potential

Other then that Chance Peni and Delousie Hoeter have chances as wingers but both need work to make it

Asipeli Fine has been unlucky I think but at 22 his chances will run out of being a star soon

lamar has gone backwards this year, he is lucky to hold his spot. club would have been better retaining funaki.

West Tigers v Warriors

Lodge will be playing NSW cup today.

Sila drops off. Otherwise unchanged from the team named.

Wow Stacey Jones looks like a beach ball.

Somehow this match is lower quality than the NYC was. The defence here is atrocious. We’re leading 10-4. Warriors just scored after Lodge tried to grab arms and the Warrior easily brushed him away and ran the length.

Lol we had a scrum 40 out on the attack and Moltzen just absolutely classic Moltzened by slipping over off the scrum pass and throwing the ball off balance to a guy who expected him to just be smart and take the tackle.

Wouldn’t read about it tbh.

Peni just got robbed a try by the touchie. Try every day of the week and the touchie said he went out. Now they march down the field and get a penalty to boot.

Now Lodge gets sin binned for a professional foul. The guy is the biggest pea brain in the history of the NRL. All the size and skill but absolutely no brain.
