Farah’s focus on sky blue jumper
      DAVID JEAN
      April 1, 2010

Robbie Farah is still seeking redemption for last year’s failure to make his mark at State of Origin level.

And the Wests Tigers captain has vowed to fight his way back into the NSW team, starting with Sunday’s clash against the Raiders at Canberra Stadium.

Farah was given first crack at replacing departed stalwart Danny Buderus at hooker last year but failed to fire as the Blues lost a record fourth-straight series.

He was then axed and had to watch on as Bulldogs rival Michael Ennis helped the Blues avoid an embarrassing clean sweep with victory in Origin III.

Coach Craig Bellamy launched the Blues’ 2010 campaign yesterday, declaring NSW was as determined as ever to win.

Farah announced his intention to fight his way back into the side and help make that happen.

“I’d love to play Origin again,” Farah said.

“Last year I didn’t get the chance in the third game to finish the series off and I’d love to do that this year.”

Farah looms as the danger man for the Raiders this weekend.

He’s had a solid start to the season and has a burning desire to play representative football again.

The 26-year-old said missing Origin III last year was one of the biggest disappointments of his career.

“I would have loved to have got the opportunity to redeem my performance from the second game,” he said.

"I wasn’t happy with the way I played and I would have loved to have got the chance to show that I was better than what I showed.

“It wasn’t meant to be, but hopefully I get the opportunity again.”

With centre Joel Monaghan sidelined until at least round 10 the Raiders may struggle to have any NSW representatives this year.

Tom Learoyd-Lahrs debuted in Origin III last year, but will need to make a big impact in his first game of the season after being hampered by a knee injury.

Five-eighth Terry Campese is also an outside chance of playing for the Blues, after being dropped following Origin I last year.

David Shillington and Daniel Vidot are the Raiders’ best Queensland hopes.

Glad he’s starting this weekend, cause if he started at rd. 1 he wouldnt have done his chances much good

Maybe he wasn’t sure whether state of origin would happen this year and had to wait until after the SOO launch this week… ?

as long as Robbie can perform consistently well for wests-tigers, then he should be in with a big chance.
it will be a battle between him and Ennis again. 😒
gee wouldn’t the focus be on playing great footy for your club, 😃 then see if you get picked for rep honours. 🙏

I just don’t see what Ennis offers, not that Robbie offered much last year during the series, but at club level, I just don’t see it at all with Ennis.

                @Tigerdave:

I would guess it is best described by guessing Daley gave him gardening knee pads last year and Ennis is not a fan of horticulture

                    Dunno about mongrel…

I would use the term “niggle”.

This is the biggest myth in the NRL at the moment. Ennis is not a mongrel, the guy can’t even tackle. Parades himself as some hard man, it’s a joke.

He is a filthy, forehead-less knob who is only talked about in rep circles because he is all chummy with those that matter, and calls journos by their first names at press conferences.

I think based on performance De Gois was ahead of Ennis last year and he should be the main contender with farah.

With all the experience … from Roo tour … and S.O.O last year…
I believe he will be the one … to lead the NSW to Glory !
                          (talking bout farah)

yeah niggle maybe, but that’s hardly worth having him there

Ennis offers only niggle other then that Farah out plays him all over the park, Robbie was good in game 1 last year and struggled a bit in game 2 where he looked injured and also ennis had kimmorley at half robbie had no where near that level of skill plus easy to look better in a winning team

Watched NRLon Fox on Wednesday…Ennis was a guest and the way Daley sucked up to Ennis made me sick!..It’s clear where Daley’s alliances are for the hooker role for NSW…Ennis was such a suck too reminding everyone how important combinations are and how he has a great one with Kimmorley!(who will most likely be NSW half)…was laughable if not funny!.
