Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership NSW Coach Paul Stringer has named his side to take on the Canterbury Bulldogs for their Round 4 clash this weekend.

Kickoff for the match is at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 26 at Leichhardt Oval, as Wests Tigers look to build on last week’s comprehensive victory over the Wyong Roos.

Wests Tigers have named a strong side to take on the Bulldogs, with the likes of Jack Littlejohn, Josh Drinkwater, Michael Chee Kam and Joel Edwards all named in an 18-man squad to take on the Bulldogs. Canterbury were just seconds away from going top of the Intrust Super Premiership table last week — instead going down 26-24 in the final seconds to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles — and will no doubt be tough opponents on Saturday afternoon as they look to bounce back from that defeat against Wests Tigers.

  • Strong side but I would have liked to see Chee-Kam in FG.

Same here. Chee Kam and Alioia were the stand outs during the trails.

  • Need big games from MCK & Edwards to put plenty of pressure on those above them.

  • Very strong team. Would love to see the likes of Addo-Carr, Fine, Griffin, Edwards, Chee-Kam, Cassell, etc. really hit some form to put pressure on the boys in 1sts.

  • Each of the backrow forwards, including bench players Edwards, Parahi and Cassell, have a very strong chance of first grade representation in the coming weeks.

  • You would have to think at least two of the Statr cup forwards offer a lot more than a few in the starting line up, and the sad thing they are highly unlikely to get a run bar injuries. Second tier cap and just a plain reluctance to change things will hold them back

  • While i think its a very strong team, what happened to Liolevave? Injured or has he also gone to Ipswich?

Possible call up to 1sts maybe? Would love to see him there against Parra

Would highly doubt it. Has barely been able to squeeze into the NSW Cup side. Would be behind Chee Kam, Edwards, Parahi, Griffin and possibly even Cassel for a back row spot.

Dam didn’t know about that. Followed him a bit last year and thought he would’ve been a solid propspect on the way up

  • SP team looking to build momentum

Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership side will look to build some momentum when they host the Canterbury Bulldogs at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday afternoon.

After starting the 2016 season with two wins and a loss, Paul Stringer’s side come into Saturday’s game fifth on the competition ladder — six spots ahead of the Bulldogs.

New halves combination Jack Littlejohn and Josh Drinkwater featured together for the first time last weekend, and the side responded with a convincing 44-16 victory against Wyong — a much-improved performance following a heavy defeat to the Warriors in Round 2.

New recruit Josh Addo-Carr has scored four tries in three games to start the year, with the winger’s blistering speed on display already this season with several runaway tries.

Addo-Carr’s combination with fullback Watson Heleta at the back is beginning to flourish, with the fullback scoring two tries last week and running for over 170 metres, following a man-of-the-match performance in his side’s Round 2 loss to the New Zealand Warriors.

Former Holden Cup forward Jordan Grant will again look to lead from the front against the mobile Canterbury pack after an impressive display against Wyong’s big men.

Grant was one of the Club’s best forwards in the match, running for over 160 metres in his two spells, and even crossed the line in the second half for his first try of the year.

Canterbury come into the match in 11th position with a draw against Newtown in Round 1 their only registered point to start the year. Andy Patmore’s side appeared destined to grab their first win of the competition last week when they led Manly late in the match, before the Sea Eagles crossed in the final minute to keep the Bulldogs winless in season 2016.

There’s no doubt this week’s visitors will be coming out firing as they aim to kick-start their season, and with the likes of Kerrod Holland, Tyrone Phillips, Dane Chisolm and Pat O’Hanlon in the side, there’s more than enough strikepower to keep the hosts on their toes.

Kickoff for the match is at 3:00pm at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday, March 26.
