  • I have already highlighted this one in another post

    Brooks - 10 tackles MIssed 0
I know he only played one half but surely thats pleasing to see none missed

  • Good stats from Tim Grant.

  • Unusually low work rate from Woods on the stats. I know he was doing a bit more passing in attack but tackle count is low for 50 minutes in the middle.

  • Thanks for posting these.

I thought Sue and Woods weren’t on the field long enough tonight. Are those their usual minutes? And why play Ava so few minutes? He seems to be better in longer stints. Lovett is wasted in the backline. Wonder who drops out next year when Felise is part of the 25, Marsters is pushing for a spot and Griffin and J Grant have a season under their belt.

  • Edwards looked pretty good actually.

  • Woods and Sue not getting enough game time - why ?

Woods and Sue not getting enough game time - why ?

Maybe keeping them a bit fresher for the tougher games coming up? Or it might have just been how the game was panning out.

Sue has been under-utilised all year for mine. Would love to see him get more minutes.

He is really putting his body on the line and making the tackle isn’t he. It’s good to see. Moses has been as well.

  • I thought Ava was a bit unfortunate and the stats back that up. In 25 less minutes he made one more tackle than Grant while only missing one as well. He really held the middle tight (and kudos to Edwards too) when Parra were coming back at us and he didn’t really get a chance to wind up a bit. I think Grant was a good signing for us this year, but with the signing of Taylor (and hopeful re-signing), if Edwards can maintain this level and Felise develops as expected there’s just not enough room for him next year IMO. He’s served us well but with Woods, Sue, Ava, JJ and Edwards (throw in Liddle or Sirro off the bench) I think we look much more potent, he just struggles a bit after contact and has a few loose penalties in him (though Sue does too).
Brooks has really stepped up his defence after a supposed grilling from Moses (according to TT) and I thought Mitch handled Edwards really well one-on-one, a great sign going forward. Hard to see Lovett keeping a spot if JT moves on, or hopefully if he wisens up too.
It wasn’t a flashy win against good opposition but our team needs to learn build a winning culture and this was a step in the right direction.
