MEET the next set of NRL twins who will soon have fans and commentators seeing double.
Hard-running forward Andrew Fifita has already debuted for Wests Tigers this year and his identical 20-year-old brother David is not far away after impressing with Balmain in the NSW Cup.
The boys grew up in Sydney’s west and were originally Panthers juniors until they moved to Griffith to settle down.
“There was a bit of trouble out this way so we went and finished school in Griffith with family down there, and that’s where the Tigers picked us up,” David said. “Andrew has made first grade now, so that’s driving me.”
Still living with their parents in Quakers Hill, the Fifitas relish every opportunity to exploit their physical likeness.
“We do play a few jokes, like when one of us dates a girl the other will go in and meet their family,” David laughed.
And to set the record straight, they are nephews of former Dragons prop John Fifita.
“But we haven’t seen him since we were little and don’t really have anything to do with him,” David said. “We’d prefer to make our own names.”
