Best Tigers side since 2005 - Scott Prince

‘This is the best Tigers side since 2005’

SCOTT Prince believes this rampaging Wests Tigers team is the best the club’s had since he led them to the 2005 premiership.

Like many critics, Prince was in awe of the Tigers’ first-up performance and the way they blew Souths off the park in such scintillating style last Friday night.
And the former Test halfback believes Aaron Woods and co. have the talent to make a serious play for the club’s second title in 2017.
“Boy, were they impressive,” Prince enthuses.
“They have a great mix of power and speed and the young guys of a couple of years ago who had potential have come good now.
“I see a lot of similarities between them and our team from 2005, actually.
“Tim Sheens always encouraged us to play what we saw in front of us and take risks if we thought something was on.
“We were able to play with a lot of freedom as a result and scored tries from all over the park.
“Clearly, Jason Taylor has the same philosophy and some of the tries they scored the other night would’ve been great on a dry track, let alone in the wet. They have a bunch of tearaway young forwards led by Aaron Woods and out wide there’s speed to burn.
“The young halves [Luke] Brooks and [Mitchell] Moses are smart players who create chances for their outside men – a little like a couple of fellas called Prince and Benji used to.
“If they keep playing like this, they’ll go a long way – they’ll be dangerous against anyone. It’s an open comp so who knows – if they get on a roll they could go all the way.”
Prince was in raptures over the performances
of elusive outside backs James Tedesco and David Nofoaluma.
“They were a step ahead of Souths and carried the ball back great,” he says. “That immediately put Souths on the back foot and then the rest of the boys put them to the sword.
“It was great to watch and hopefully the start of a big year for the club. They’ve struggled the last few years but everyone knew they were a club on the rise with tremendous talent

I hope Scottie for our sanities you are correct.
