Never a dull moment in Tiger town
The Tigers are embroiling themselves in a fresh hooking drama after finally solving the long-running Robbie Farah affair at the end of last season.
The club gave promising hooker Matt McIlwrick - the heir to Farah’s number nine throne this season - a deadline to sign a new deal earlier this week.
McIlwrick is being chased by several rival clubs and the Tigers are attempting to put the pressure on him to stay on board.
But McIlwrick and his manager refused to be bullied into signing - opening a potential rift with the Tigers.
The young hooker - who ironically comes up against Farah when the Tigers meet Souths tonight - wants to explore his options rather than be hurried into signing a new deal.
The Tigers are now in a dilemma. Do they call McIlwrick’s bluff and pull the deal, losing one of the most promising hookers in the game, or give him an extension in the hope he stays.
Never a dull moment in Tiger town.
Thoughts??? I would be pretty filthy if McIlwrick were to leave us considering the fact we gave him a chance in FG when he was languishing in reggies.
