Salary Cap Breach - Dogs and Raiders

  • They are known as cheats within RL Circles. The difficult is the evidence unless people fess up like at the Storm or the Eels

  • Dont forget the Roosters where their players dont have to pay for anything in the local area.

Free food, drink, clothes, coke, petrol, smokes and women for life comes standard when a player signs a contract with the Rorters…

  • Just for some even-footing, Tigers have been fined quite a few times too: 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 (that was a bad one, we went over in 2010 by $300K).

At least, however, we’ve been compliant since then.

Sometimes it’s clearly and legitimately an accident, for example clubs expecting certain rebates or allowances that are denied by the NRL, injuries and roster reshuffles.

Well to be fair Wests self reported the breach in 2002

Wasn’t 2010 due to supposed junior discounts we were thought we were going to receive for Farah, Gibbs, Fulton etc through Jersey Flegg but NRL said it only applied to the Toyota Cup and not previous incarnations of the youth competition?

  • If the Dogs were over the salary in 2016 (who did they lose after that ?), so their 2017 side must be over as well, but now think of this they’ve gained Woods and Foran for peanuts, right…how much is their side going to over the salary cap in 2018 … they have got to git rid of heaps of current players before 2018 kicks off. Expect a massive wholesale, clearance sale coming out of the kennel soon … !!

But in reading that these two clubs are over the salary cap, I find it very hard to believe that there is no mention of the Rorters, Sharks, Cows or Broncos being over the cap when you look at their squads … !!

  • I have said many times the NRL Salary Cap is a joke.

I heard Nathan Brown interviewed the other day and he said their are two Salary Caps, the official one and the seemingly unlimited one that some clubs have that is inflated by Third Party Agreements. NRL need to sort out the Third Party Agreements once and for all (I suggest they scrap them altogether).

    the 1st bit….

  • By all accounts it sounds like the typical, usual wet-lettuce punishment by the limp wristed NRL heirachy……

  • Salary cap is a joke. Just look at the Broncos starting lineup. Enough said.

Yep it was a complete joke. Made no sense at all except to favour clubs without juniors.
