Newcastle have sensationally dumped star winger Nathan Ross from first grade this weekend after Moley’s exclusive story yesterday that he is not happy with his current contract.

In a savage reaction from the club, officials are poised to drop Ross - one of their best players all season - from the team to meet Penrith on Sunday.

The move comes as a direct result of Wide World of Sports revealing yesterday that Ross believes he is worth more than his current deal, believed to be around $150,000 a season.

Ross is signed until the end of next season, but sources told WWOS that Ross is considering quitting the club once his contract expires - and that sent the club into a rage.

Ross was called in by club officials this morning and told he would be playing in the NSW Cup this weekend.

The news is certain to create a massive backlash from Knights fans.

  • Good…hope he gets an immediate release.

Moses has now set precedent in all kinds of way.

Ross will play the welfare card and he will be gone from the Knights.

  • Was gonna post this myself

Talking about contracts and whatnot, the coach made the right move here.

The dude is a winger and hes almost 30……
Doubt any other clubs are that keen.

  • I don’t really rate Nathan Brown as a coach, but geez for what Nathan Ross did Brown dealt with it harshly in my opinion….Surely a quiet word and a fine(?) would suffice , rather than humiliate, demoralise him publicly by dropping him to the reggies when the demotion was not form based.

    I’d say he’s still worth between 250-350k, he’s a good player.

Hes probably one of two decent players in the worst team.

Yep, Nathan Brown spoke about it…said there was a massive increase in the cap and a lot of players in the same situation, they would love to get some of that money. Ross didn’t handle it well apparently.

  • I’d have him at WT for sure. He’s a decent player and can definitely find the line. Hope WT make enquiries as to his keeness to hop on the bus. Rossdaaaaawg!

  • They’re not going to release him, this is just giving his manager the finger. Play the media card against the club and expect the player you manage to be punished…

  • Good move by the club. Clubs need to show who’s boss.

  • well he was worth nothing when knights signed him up, they gave him first grader’s money in the hope he plays like one.

these players think too highly of themselves. i’d rather see low quality football where people wanna play for each other
