Wing coach

    Wing coach KPIs

    • increase bum taps for dropped balls by 27%
    • run an advanced voluntary tackle class at least once a month (fullbacks can attend too)
    • reduce lag between try and high 5 by 3 seconds

    Any others?

Hahaha…this is the sort of old school thinking i was talking about. Wingers used to be hangers on to the rest of the side, they are now at the pointy end of a teams success.

Whether or not we need one is a moot point because we cannot afford a coach for each position. We’re not like the rich clubs (Storm, Roosters, Broncos etc) that have coaches, nutritionists, physios etc coming out of their ears

If we have limited funds. Should we get a halves coach, and a forwards coach like everyone else is doing and be outclassed in trying to copy them?

Ofcourse we need to have our forwards moving forward, ofcourse we need co-ordinated defense.

Every club seems to be throwing everything at their halves. I heard Adam Reynolds say on the weekend “ofcourse when you loose, the halfback is the one that gets blamed”. Why do we trust the halfback to do the “magic kick” for whatever winger or center they find… all the time.

I think this is why Manly and Easts have succeeded. They have dangerous halfbacks and very dangerous centers and wingers, they can test the line at different areas and come up with the points.

  • What about a utility coach?

    What about a utility coach?

Do we need a coach to coach the coach?

maybe… Mr 47% could definitely do with a hand to increase those stats.

I’d like to see how Cleary goes with recruitment in the coaching ranks though. There was a murmur a while ago Fairleigh would be with us next year, but havnt heard anything for a while.

Been asking for a while, but Peter Ryan is the man we need to tighten up our middle!

  • Lol what about a specialist coaches coach

  • My dad used to say the old Blocker line about Union wingers… but again, we’re trying too hard to be like the rep sides who mostly select fullbacks- and centres-in-waiting to be their wingers.

Anyone remember Luke Rooney before he fell off the face of the Earth? We COULD go all-out for Semi Radradra but he loves the Eels.

Yeah I do actually, he and Luke Lewis were the gun wingers for Penrith back in the day - how the fortunes have changed.

Isn’t it worrying how this is such a silly question…
“Do we need a coach to coach the coach?”

Then you realise the answer is… yes. :brick:

Ivan though probably does not need another coach. Hey we were planning on Tim Sheens being a mentor coach. IMHO his set plays were awesome but not very structural as a coach.

  • Get Taniela and Eric Grothe Snr, even Hazeem El Masri to have a chat with the wingers.
Might be able to offer an insight as to how they played…
