Lawrence on the verge of history

  • Ooohhh, a doctor AND a troll… Impressive

Ineffective in that he often is the 1st forward back to take a dirty run or scores every 3 games he plays…runs lines that give out halves options

We could use more of that kind of ineffective…

You’re here to rescue your pal. That’s sweet but I appreciate at least an attempt to discuss Lawrence.

The dirty run is the old centre trying to break out in him. He doesn’t have the speed though. Nofo does it with great effectiveness.
He knows where to be close to the line. That’s why he scores but again, that’s the old centre traits creeping back into his game.
As a forward. He is not big enough to bend the line.

We turned a world class centre that was injured into a mediocre 2nd rower because we couldn’t offload him from a long contract.
    That’s the reality.

  • A lot of leeway given to Lawrence because of the man he is and being a one club man - naturally.
Some fans will be pragmatic about where his future lies with the club, others will be more sympathetic based on what he has already offered. Typical fanbase arguement.

Don’t know why you seem to have a bee in your bonnet today, but “reality” is that WT would have had his money in the cap each year until this one, regardless of whether we paid him out or not.

I know you get a pass for personal insults because your sycophantic to admin but others get their posts deleted and suspended for less.

I’ll leave you in this thread basking in your own popular glory with no substance.
    You’re not worth my time.

    Haha…youre paranoid too…LOL, quite a resume’

    Lets see, Rowdy:
    *Professional sportsman.
*Partakes in one of the toughest codes on the planet, has done for over a decade.
*Runs his own business…physical fitness I believe.
*Would be quite comfortably wealthy one could assume.

…and heres you reckons he’d qualify for a pension.
    seriously…
Do you read the crap you type before hitting submit?

  • Seriously we need to respect a player of Chris’s Standard , commitment and physical willingness to get back into FG. next season like everyone else he must earn his place in the team, if not i think Chris is professional enough to play where he is needed.

I’ll just say one thing -

    Boyd Cordner - 1.88 metres, 102 kgs
    Matt Gillett - 1.87 metres, 104 kgs
    Tyrone Peachey - 1.83 metres, 87 kgs
    Chris Lawrence - 1.87 metres, 100 kgs

Saying he is too small to bend the line is rubbish, Peachy yeah! - Rowdy, no.

Just say you don’t like him - you don’t have to make stuff up.

Surely you dont believe its personal. Now you’re just clutching at straws. I said he should be captain because of his experience but he isn’t a 2nd rower by nature. He doesn’t play like one yet we continue with him.

    He has no impact.
I think people are thinking that trying hard is good enough reason to play for us. With that thinking it’s no wonder were near bottom.
We’re just used to sucking so badly were you guys are numb to it.

He is only here because we couldnt pay him out. Thats correct.
Do you think if we could he would still be here?? Of course not.
I’m actually in a great mood. Just some people don’t want to discuss the topic and turn it into a slanging match because deep down they know i’m right.
Ink just jumps on any popular opinion but he knows he hasn’t got anything to add. Yet I’m perceived the troll for actually sticking to the topic. Go figure.

  • ForumSupporter

Why would they go to the trouble of actually re-negotiate Rowdy’s contract extend him 3 years on a reduced figure in this years Cap …when the Club could of simply absorbed it for this year and see ya later a la Robbie Farah……go figure

Rowdy is an adequate player at best. Calling him a champion player is rose coloured glasses.
Plenty of you hammer other players who “try hard” and give their all screaming that their best just aint good enough. Most of you commenting in this thread have been guilty of this and it is a fair enough call. We need better than just average players who try hard. You all agree with that yet wont accept that Chris is the captain coach of this group. …that the Wests Tigers for you though…its just a park footy mentality club and thats why we make the finals on average only every 6 years.

That is your opinion - that is ok. You are entitled to it the same as everyone else is entitled to theirs.

I think he is a good second rower, is big enough and does have impact. In fact I think he is just as good a second rower as Boyd Cordner who is vastly over rated in my opinion. That is how I see it.

You and Stryker like calling people names, our opinions are wrong, telling us we are losers etc. etc.

Say what you like, it is also just an opinion - and not always right. Forums are opinions that is what they are there for.

LMAO Rowdy is as good a second rower as Cordner???
I have officially now heard it all.

Rowdy is an adequate player at best.

That’s my sole and best argument. Some are saying he is great, some are saying he is adequate… Adequate will do, if he is adequate and cap free (and not in tremendous pain like Nigel Plum) keep him. I don’t think he is great, but he will do and we need to spend the money elsewhere.

Lawrence was great, now he is Depth. We need Depth, while he can prove to be better then others in our starting 17, he can stay there. If not, he can make our 25 and add depth.

Sure his attitude is that of a champion, he had one good game and dosen’t deserve an ego boost because of one game only.

He is free. We like free, it means we can talk about Packer instead of George Rose. If we Loose Lawrence, it means we have to find another “adequate” player and pay him out of the cap to fill Lawrence’s shoes… that reduces our ability to pay and bring “great” players in.

Big 17 guys. yes, totally agreed he is no superstars. But the idea is to get a tough team together, once you do that you have a team that dosen’t “drop ball” or “not complete 50% of their sets”. You start getting the superstarts in. but they are superstars in a strong team.

Our aim is to get that strong team back. Forget top 4 next year and we will be lucky to come 7th or 8th. If we do better then 10th we will be doing well. But for years we have looked to Marshall or Farah or “the Big 4” to pull rabbits out of their hats to get us to the finals. Instead we are going to start again with Grit and earn, not fluke our way there.
