JT one year too long

  • I think it’s sad how little we’ve heard about JT this season.
He’s arguably the best player to play the game and he’s going out in silence.

If the Cows we’re doing OK and in the top 8 the media would be all over the Thurston story, but since they’re not doing so good we don’t hear anything about the fact we’ve only got a few weeks left to see this great man on the paddock.

The same as when Bennett was coaching Newcastle and they were terrible, never heard anything about him being a great coach, but the minute he goes to a strong club you start seeing “The Bennett factor” headlines.

Even though I’m sick of seeing the same teams fighting it out every year and the Cows are one of them, It’s just sad to him go out like this.

  • It is a strange situation as he didn’t play much last year, injured in Origin 2 2017 for the season and his team made it to the Grand Final.

I am guessing its not really the way he wanted to go out and with the long recovery time he had I imagine he thought he was up to it.

He hasnt been great this year but the Cowboys team have been bad all year and it shows with them equal last in the comp.

  • Yeah , it is hard to know where blame lays for the disaster of a season for them

In some positions they have arguably the best players in the world at their best

Green looked as if he might be in the Top 3 coaches in the game

Seems a lot of players have collectively fallen off the cliff performance wise

But some blame must lay at the feet of Green , game plan hasn’t changed all season , they always play out the back when they go wide and hasn’t really made any changes to the line up until now bar moving Morgan to fullback around SOO

Next season will be interesting for the Cowboys

As long as they do the j o b on Brisbane that is the most important thing at this stage

And they will , get on it , Cowboys will beat Brisbane , you watch this space

Agree. Paul Green and his staff have mismanaged their game plans and roster, big-time.

Other teams have lifted but the Cows have been stagnant.

Not keeping Ponga but keeping some dead wood must go down as one the the NRL’s most epic fails.

  • I agree. We definitely kept Jason Taylor one year too many…

  • Think the cowboys were too loyal to middle of the road player. Lost Ponga and others to keep O’Neill, Winterstein, Cooper, Linnet and others that aren’t stars and getting long in the tooth.

    Their roster needs a refresh

Yeah it’s obvious that the Cows have underachieved as a team but so has JT individually, and that’s kind of part of reason for this thread.
I feel like the media doesn’t know what to say, so they’re kind of not saying anything.

No doubt if they were in contention, there’d be “Can the Cowboys send JT out a winner” stories every week.

Seems no one wants to say what they’re really thinking.

  • Can the Cowboys send JT out with the spoon?

He doesn’t deserve it but it could all come down to the round 24 match v Parra.

  • I have said this before he reads the game better than anyone else I have seen, but that alone does not lead to success. In a great team he is the go to player, in a dud team he is swallowed up by whats around him and the fact the defense know who to target.
