Wests Tigers can provide the following update on the club’s Top 30 NRL squad for the upcoming 2019 Telstra Premiership season.

Under NRL guidelines, clubs are required to confirm a top 24 roster for 2019 with the NRL as of November 1, 2018 — the start of the financial rugby league calendar — with 29 players to be signed on when the regular season commences on the first week of March, 2019.

Clubs then have until the June 30 deadline to finalise their Top 30 squad, while also retaining between three and six players as part of the club’s Development squad.

Wests Tigers confirmed earlier this week that the club’s three 2018 Development players — Sam McIntyre, Thomas Mikaele and Dylan Smith — will all join the Top 30 NRL squad in 2019, with the trio joining Ryan Matterson and Paul Momirovski as the new faces in the side.

Moses Mbye, Robbie Farah, Oliver Clark and Luke Garner will also begin their first full season with the team following their respective mid-season arrivals in 2018.

Currently, Wests Tigers have 28 players signed in the Top 30 squad for the 2019 season, and four players signed as part of the 2019 Development squad.

  • Looking at the list we are definitely short a couple of good players without a doubt
Our players will need to lift again next year
I hope the new additions can push even harder for a starting position which will help the cause
No doubt we need Liddle and Reynolds on the paddock and firing
Hopefully the new additions will also add some thing special

Its going to be a long off season watching and waiting for some good news

  • One of the worst squads we’ve ever rolled out, yet up there with the most amount of free cap we’ve ever had to spend.
Good to see Ivan’s mind is on the job.

  • its just a disgrace, and a insult to us fans. either ivan could not give a stuff, or we have idiots doing are recruitment.

  • The squad will be better than last year.
I can see improvement from Liddle, Reynolds, MCK, Martsers, Matulino, Twal, Mbye, Mikalele either due to fitness or experience. You would think Lawrence, Farah, Marshall will regress.
Matterson is a big upgrade and I think Momirovksi will be better than Kev.

We have to sort out the coaching mess and recruit a couple of starting players that would make top 4 sides.

We have lost a few players that have not really been replaced Grant, Sue, Felise, MWZ.
We really need a prop/lock to replace Sue as he was making a real impact later in the year.

Mikalele is the logical player but we need a big strong metre eater with youth.

  • More likely to win the spoon than make the 8

  • Looks terrible at this stage. Nothing will change if Cleary is here next year but a change of coach might see some player movements.

  • Well it looks like Ivan has well and truly screwed us

  • Other clubs will be shaking in their boots looking at our team. We are re-building (which is all we seem to do) but I’m guessing next season will be much like this year, a couple of wins in a row to keep us interested but no real threat to the premiership.

    Thin on for outside backs…

The pack proved they could match it with the rest in the majority of games …the addition of Matterson will improve the balance of the pigs

The top 17 is a good squad id back them against most sides in the NRL…however we know injuries will strike at stages…it’s where we need the likes of Aloiai Chee Kam to step up again and show more consistency…

If Ivan is still here next year and that roster doesn’t change then we aren’t even rebuilding. We’re barely treading water.

  • Look its an unfinished squad, we all know that.

Draw your own conclusions why it was not finished.

Have you considered that both your suggestions are true

  • Dally M 1/2 of the year
    Kiwi centre
Better FB, hooker & backrow than last season.
No improvement in other areas however it could be a lot worse.

Hopefully we’re focusing on a top line prop & centre for the last 2 remaining spots.

  • I’m normally pretty positive, struggling to see that side improving on 2018. I’d love to know where we sit with the salary cap…surely we have a lot of space.
