Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach Michael Maguire has named a strong squad for his side’s NRL trial match against the New Zealand Warriors to be played on Saturday, March 2.

Kickoff for the match is at 5:00pm local time (3:00pm AEDT) from Northland Events Centre in Whangarei with a free live stream available on the club’s website.

Wests Tigers will field a strong lineup for their NRL trial this week with new recruits Ryan Matterson and Robert Jennings both set to feature in their new colours for the first time. Matterson will start in the back row while Jennings starts in the centres alongside Esan Marsters with Corey Thompson retaining his spot on the left wing.

Life Members Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah will start the match at five-eighth and hooker, with Josh Reynolds and Jacob Liddle to come off the bench.

Moses Mbye will captain the team for the first time since his unveiling as captain, while young gun Thomas Mikaele has also earned a spot in the first-grade squad after his first pre-season with the top side — listed on the eight-man bench.

Wests Tigers will kick off against the Warriors at 5:00pm local time, with the club’s Intrust Super Premiership side Western Suburbs Magpies also in action on the day.

Both games will be broadcast live on FOX League (Ch.502) from 12:00pm AEDT.

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg side will also play a trial match against the Melbourne Thunderbolts on Saturday, March 2 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

  • Where’s Chris Lawrence?

Garner ahead of McQueen. Like it but surprised.

Marshall ahead of Reynolds. Not sure about this one

    @Tiger_Steve…it’s a trial…

    Momirovski not named anywhere…😵

  • No Musgrave or Momorovski

  • Musgrove not playing either.

  • @Geo:

    Kodi Aupouri (capt.

Please explain - anyone know anything about this guy?

  • Don’t dampen my enthusiasm!!

    But where’s Lawrence??
    Momirovski is injured isn’t he?

  • Exactly why I would have expected to see Reynolds there. If there’s one thing he’s lacking it’s actual game time. Maybe Madge doesn’t rate him.

  • Doesn’t look good for our prop rotation if Musgrove isn’t cleared for round 1.

  • Mikaele. He is the real deal

  • @Tiger_Steve:

Mikaele. He is the real deal

I hope so. Named so low in the squad worries me. (Or is my tinfoil hat loose?)

  • Mikaele was stacks better than Chee Kam last week. Interestingly, Aloiai is well down the pecking order

Needed the 21 Jersey because 14-17 too small Mikaele is HUGE…

  • I wonder what’s happened to Lawrence?

  • lack of props worries me, across both sides theres not much depth. maybe chris is been rested as the coach knows what he brings to the team. think josh will get 30-40 mins just to get him back into contact, remember he had shoulder surgery in the off season.
