Wests Tigers Team V Penrith * Official

Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach Michael Maguire has named a strong side for Friday night’s clash against the Penrith Panthers with Josh Reynolds set for his first game of the new season

Reynolds had featured for the club’s Canterbury Cup side over the past fortnight as he completed his long-term return from injury, and will now move in to the halves with Benji Marshall (hamstring) unavailable for selection this week.

Reynolds will partner Luke Brooks in the halves for the first time since Round 16 of the 2018 season as Wests Tigers look to bounce back from last week’s defeat.

Maguire has confirmed an otherwise unchanged side for Friday’s game with Luke Garner named in the back row despite picking up a knock last week. Garner did return to the game in the second half, however, and is expected to play this week.

Russell Packer, Thomas Mikaele, Josh Aloiai and Michael Chee Kam will again feature off the interchange bench for Wests Tigers with Paul Momirovski, Matt Eisenhuth, Robbie Rochow and Chris McQueen all named as reserves.

David Nofoaluma (shoulder) has not been named as he continues his rehabilitation with the winger expected to be available for selection next week, while Jacob Liddle (ankle) and Chris Lawrence (jaw/face) also remain unavailable for selection.

Wests Tigers will confirm an updated 19-man squad for Friday’s game on Thursday evening at 8:05pm AEDT before finalising their 17-man team to take on the Panthers one hour prior to kickoff at Panthers Stadium (7:05pm, Thursday).

Expect changes

Maguire is having a lend surely how can he keep basically the same numpties who played the Dogs…

I know… It’s madness… The definition of insane

trust the coach. that is all.

Who replaces Reynolds once he starts brain farting?

% of Garner being fit for this game?

Quick question. With no one who can play in the spine not named as a reserve what happens if one of the spine brakes their leg tomorrow. Do we have to name 18-21 there or can we get a special request to promote someone else

We’ll be desperate!

No as Matterson can play in the halves as can Momirovski…there are backrowers named in reserves…

If Farah went down Taylor to 9 and a backrower in for him Mbye would see Thompson to Fb Jennings wing Momirovski centre etc etc…

All permutations are covered…maybe not like for like especially in the halves but you wont get an exemption unless 3 of them broke a leg all at the same time

I hope that MBye catches those high balls and runs with flair and confidence. Also Jennings/Michaele really need to spark up good and proper otherwise they are likely to drop out of firsts for weeks if they haven’t already burnt their bridges.

Would be a good move I reckon

the winner will be the more desperate one
