Honestly the last piece of the puzzle is on field results.

The most important part.

You’ll get no argument from me there Gal. Gotta have everything in the background pulling the right too though. Jack Gibson said that winning starts in the front office.

Absolutely agree. I’m just not sure we have. Getting a suitable training facility shouldn’t be marked as a great achievment. That’s a basic necessity.

True, but the five or six guys before Pascoe couldn’t get it over the line. They couldn’t get the club solvent. They couldn’t attract sponsorship the to level we do now.

It’s all falling into place slowly. If the one field performances reflected what we were doing off the field I am not sure we’d be having these discussions about Pascoe’s ability as a CEO.

Because of our never ending cap mess. When he turned up he said we’d be clear of the mess in 2017. Now it looks like 2022.

Well we were, and then we were thrown back in again.

I know, under his watch.
I guess the difference in opinion is what someone thinks the CEO’sis responsibilty is I think a good one is in control and responsible for every part of the organisation. If hes just the numbers guy, then he doing a good job.

You’re right in that he’s in charge of the whole organisation. Yeah you own what your employees do, but don’t you think that Ivan has absolutely no responsibility in his actions? Conversely you can apply the logic you’ve stated as if you judge him on football operations, he’s been ordinary as a CEO, hence why I’ve said he’s neither been stellar nor hopeless as a CEO. Those saying he’s without fault and those saying he’s garbage refuse to look at his efforts as a whole. There’s things he could have done better and there’s things he’s done that others couldn’t.

At the end of the day the club exists to win footy games. Without the financials reading the right way, we don’t even have a footy team to bag out on this forum.

Of course Ivan takes most the blame, but he’s gone. He can’t do anymore damage.

As far as the financials go, . I’m happy with his efforts there. I just think we need a better CEO, make him the CFO.

I believe as long as his signings are on the books, the damage is continual.

Anyway, onwards and upwards hopefully.

Yes, hopefully the last piece of the puzzle clicks into place sooner rather than later.

I’ve seen Balmain/Wests make the finals 4 times in 30 years. It’s been Souffs like.

We have had multiple threads on this in the past but dont forget Pascoe was also getting it from Egan backing up Cleary’s request. Hard to say no when you have the 2 x professionals in your ear. Yes, I agree he should have but understand the situation Pascoe was in. Assume he has well and truely from those days.

That’s the risk you take when you get a guy who’s never be a CEO before . Our previous one had no experience either. Bargain buys.

He was CEO at the Pamfers before he came to us.

Incorrect

You seem pretty sure of that…want to reassess? Phone a friend?

He’s right, he was head of rugby league. Wasn’t CEO. Brian Fletcher is current CEO and before that it was Warren Wilson (when Pascoe was there)

It is the same job. Head of NRL is the Chief Executive Officer on behalf of the board to run the NRL operations. CEO of Panthers (Fletcher) is CEO of the entire Panthers Group (Including a multitude of licensed clubs.

Its the same position as CEO at Tigers

At Panthers he reported up to Wilson. Wilson still ultimately called the shots, like Fletcher does now. Pascoe wasn’t the big boss, had someone above him he had to answer too.

As he does now as well. Thats what CEO means. He executes the directions of the board. He answers to Lee and the board. Its the same job. Fletcher is CEO of the group.

I know very well the difference between a CEO and a divisional head, which is what Pascoe was. He answers to the board here because he is CEO, he answered to Wilson at Penrith because Wilson was CEO. There is a difference.

No difference other than semantics. Who is the equivalent to Fletcher at the tigers? Who carries out the same job that Pascoe did at the Panthers here?

The Panthers group is in reference to the Panthers clubs. Nothing to do with the football team. Bryan Fletchers position is the same as that Simon fella from West’s Ashfield.
Pascoe was the general manager at the time. I believe also an interim CEO, but spent the majority of his time in that role at Harvard curtesy of the Panthers.

Without argument on-field performance and the composition of the ladder is what separates the winners from the losers, and being content with mediocre results in both is what the club(and fans) should be moving away from.

I think Justin deserves credit for his involvement with our financial security, as well as marketing and communication but Marina Go’s input often goes unmentioned. Her whole approach during her tenure exuded true leadership and governance. I personally thought she was more ballsy than Justin.

As I mentioned Pascoe was an interim CEO until they appointed Corey Payne. That’s why he left.

There is no part I am not getting. Penrith Football Club is 100% owned by Panthers Group. There are not separate boards. The Board of Panthers Group Controls the Penrith Football team and the CEO is Brian Fletcher. The CEO of the Panthers Football team is Brian Fletcher, that is why HE announced Gould was leaving last year.

https://www.penrithpanthers.com.au/news/2019/04/24/press-conference-brian-fletcher/

The position that Pascoe had at Panthers was Head of NRL which is a different name but the same job as he has here. That is the whole point.

https://westernweekender.com.au/2016/03/shake-up-confirmed-at-panthers-with-brian-fletcher-appointed-new-ceo/

“While Mr Fletcher, who has been CEO of Hawkesbury Race Club for more than 25 years, will take on the role as Group CEO, there will still be a CEO specifically in charge of the rugby league side of the business, with the club to go to market to find the right person for that role, which was vacated by Justin Pascoe more than six months ago.”

That is exactly my point. There is NO equivalent of Fletcher at the Wests Tigers. Pascoes job and role at Penrith was the same as here.

If you insinuating that, then they’ve since combined the roles.

https://www.google.com/search?q=cory+payne+panthers+ceo&rlz=1CDGOYI_enAU912AU912&oq=cory+payne+panthers+ceo&aqs=chrome..69i57.7252j0j7&hl=en-GB&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

I am not “insinuating” anything, its a fact. And nothing changed.

Halfway down this link, it explains it for you. https://westernweekender.com.au/2016/08/corey-payne-gone-as-brian-fletcher-assumes-vacant-ceo-role/

Panthers Group CEO Brian Fletcher confirmed to the Weekender on Tuesday afternoon that he would assume the vacant role of Football CEO moving forward.

“I will now also be acting as the CEO of Football, which I did back in March and April when I first joined Panthers. We’ll be going back to that structure moving forward,” he said.

As Ive said repeatedly, its semantics. When Pascoe was there his job was called “Head of NRL”, when Payne took over the name was changed to “CEO of Football”. They are the same job and both Pascoe and Payne reported to THE CEO Brian Fletcher.

AND THAT IS MY WHOLE POINT!!!

A couple of posters here stated that he had no previous experience of the job he is doing at the Tigers, BECAUSE BRIAN FLETCHER WAS THE CEO NOT PASCOE. That is clearly not true because he was doing the same job at Penrith as here.

Needaname, please go back and re-read this thread and how we got to here. You are trying to argue with me by MAKING MY EXACT POINT!!! The Penrith NRL team is 100% owned by Panthers Group. The board responsible for the NRL operations is the Board of Panthers Group. The CEO is Brian Fletcher. There is no separate board for the NRL team. BRIAN FLETCHER IS THE CEO OF THE NRL TEAM!!!

Do you know what a CEO does? When Pascoe was there, who did he report to?
