Wests Tigers captain Moses Mbye says his side need to move on quickly from a disappointing defeat to the Parramatta Eels in Round 6 in order to bounce back against the Gold Coast Titans.

Fronting reporters today after the tough 51-6 loss on Easter Monday, Mbye was the first to admit that moving on quickly was tough to do, but said it was important to put the result in the rear view mirror in order to focus on Saturday’s game.

“To be honest, it’s happened now so it’s about how we respond,” Mbye reflected.

"In terms of bouncing back, you’re motivated back from any loss. It’s not about the score or how tight or big the loss was, we’ve got a point to prove from any loss.

"It’s going to be a really good test of our character up in Tamworth.

"The question is not what went wrong. The question for us is how we’re going to go now and we answer that by playing a quality game against the Titans.

“That might sound off and it’s hard to get over quickly, but you have to,” he said. "You’re only going to waste energy on what’s already happened if you don’t.

"Every session we have is pretty honest and that’s how we do it here.

“We’ve had a look at what we can do to fix things and now it’s about doing it and applying it to where we can expose the Titans and avoid them exposing us.”

Having not played in Wests Tigers’ trip to Scully Park last year, Mbye said the trip to the country to face the Gold Coast Titans would be a good test for his side’s character and ability to hone in on the next job at hand this weekend.

“It’s good to be going to Tamworth,” Mbye enthused. "Taking it to the regional areas and the country is going to be a really good game for the fans that come out.

"It’ll be good for us to spend the time together and get focused on the job at hand.

“The Titans have won two on the trot and have got some confidence now which is good for them. They’ve got some really handy players — Jai Arrow is one who’s been playing great footy — and they’ve got Origin players up there. Garth Brennan seems to be doing a good job and we know they’re going to be tough to beat.”

  • @TheDaBoss
    We can only bloody hope.
But this team is really, really hard to watch … bit like slow moving car wreck.

  • Short memories boys …you got owned only a few weeks ago

  • Thanks for posting @TheDaBoss. To be fair if I had 8 days to prepare for an 80 min effort in my workplace and delivered that performance I wouldn’t want to talk about what went wrong either. Glad to hear that our “home” game in Tamworth will give them an opportunity to focus on the job at hand.

  • If the NRL was serious about promoting the NRL in the country areas, then every year each team would have 11 “home games” and 1 game in a country area decreed by the NRL.

It doesn’t take an Einstein to work these things out fairly to all teams, it just takes someone in charge who can lead and is trying to make it fair. Fail atm on both accounts.

    Lobotomys all round

  • Anyone else raise an eyebrow with the comment "and they’ve got origin players up there "? Obviously someone else thinks we have holes in our roster

    That is about it Hobbo

And its almost like we tried …sorry but we will try a lot harder next time

    51-6 is unacceptable

In God knows how many seasons I played had 50 put on us once …in arguably the hardest situation imaginable to play in

Don’t want excuses …losing by 45 is garbage

  • It’s hard to get over the fact our captain is about as washed up as Darius Boyd.

Thanks Moses…Mbye try harder next time…

  • Perhaps the issue is motivation… bring in some speakers and see if that works
