Penrith is willing to release James Maloney from the final year of his deal with the club to take up an offer in the English Super League, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The premiership winner is still contracted to the Panthers until the end of the 2020 season, but it’s understood Penrith is open for the five-eighth to move on earlier if both sides can come to an agreement.
If both sides can’t come to a compromise, the club will respect and honour the last year of his contract.
Maloney’s future at the club has been a topic of discussion since last season, when former general manager Phil Gould discussed his possible early departure at a board meeting.

Gould and Maloney’s management both spoke openly about the Blues incumbent leaving one year before his contract expires and it appears Maloney’s future is back on the agenda now with Gould gone.
Question marks over Penrith’s form and roster have bubbled to the surface after a 2-7 start to the year for Ivan Cleary’s men.
The Panthers have already tried to offload winger Dallin Watene-Zelenziak to Parramatta for the remainder of his contract until 2020, while fullback Dylan Edwards has been linked to the North Queensland.

Cleary has made changes for Friday night’s clash with New Zealand, dropping stars Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Josh Mansour.

Maloney was a Hook supporter, no wonder he is being shown the door.

You know the riff could easily be 0-9

Undeserved win against us and lucky win against the knights

Funnily enough the win against the Knights was because of a couple of big Maloney plays. There’s not much honesty coming out of Penrith, which is a real surprise given the reputation of Voldermort 😂

Yeah he’d look good in the Tangerine ,Black and White

His reaction when Thompson scored …he was absolutely filthy

I know Maloney wanted more money on the next contract so extending him wasn’t likely, but really I thought he’s their most valuable player. Competitive, big game experience, the perfect partner to balance Cleary.

What am I missing? Is Cleary Senior still a Tiger and dismantling Penrith from within?

Voldemort is gone. His new nickname: THE DISMANTLER

If i were Ivan atm, i would release the whole squad

@TigerTiger He is in terrible form. He has always had a lot of mistakes in his game but now there are less good plays.

Problem is the squad has so many excuses to choose from …

“According to the Daily Telegraph”
This is paper talk

I bet he is not the only one they are willing to release based on the garbage that they have there on long term contracts.
