Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire will have a strong complement of players to choose from as his side face the in-form South Sydney Rabbitohs this Saturday at ANZ Stadium.

With a longer turnaround following their last-minute defeat to the Melbourne Storm last Thursday, Maguire will again have a strong squad to choose his Round 11 side from with only Chris Lawrence (jaw/face) and Josh Reynolds (knee) unavailable.

All players pulled through the Round 10 loss to Melbourne in good condition, meaning Maguire could again list the same squad for this week’s clash against the Rabbitohs or opt to include some of the faces that featured in Canterbury Cup.

With Jacob Liddle dropping back to reserve grade after sitting on the interchange bench on Thursday, Wests Tigers had as many as 10 first-grade players run out for the Western Suburbs Magpies last week (as well as two Development Players) and could again be set to field a similarly strong reserve-grade side this weekend.

For South Sydney, Coach Wayne Bennett has his side humming along on top of the competition ladder and they’ll head in to this week’s game looking to extend their winning streak to seven wins in a row. The cardinal and myrtle will be without a couple of key outside backs, however, with Alex Johnston (knee) and Kyle Turner (toe) both ruled out while Braidon Burns (hamstring/foot) has not yet returned.

With Turner going down late in the week, Bennett opted to use Ethan Lowe in the centres against Canberra and he may again look to use the veteran forward out wide again this week, although Jacob Gagan does appear the more likely option having featured in the centres for South Sydney back in Round 4.

Both sides will name their 21-man squads for Saturday night’s game at 4:00pm AEST on Tuesday before providing an updated 19-man squad at 7:35pm on Friday.

Final team lists will then be confirmed one hour before kickoff (6:35pm, Saturday).

It will be the same 17 as last week. Think we’ve seen the last of Taylor and Packer. Wouldn’t be surprised if they get shopped around for next year.

If we are not actually going to use Liddle i would give Packer another run as he might have a point to prove… He is solid on defense and with the size of Souths we need all we can get.

u watched any CC highlights?

look at him in them… he is non existent

Agree with these two… Does anyone know what the go is with Garner 🤔

@TheDaBoss No i have seen them games as in Brisbane and they don’t show them. I will trust what you are all saying and hope we can offload him ASAP as the money could be spent better. Unlikely to happen considering how much he is on and years to go

@hsvjones He will ask his Manager to shop around…Tigers will offload him if we can, even if he have to pay for a portion of his contract

Great…paying for players to play elsewhere again…Another Pascoe assurance down the gurgler…

Look at this!! 28% say Tigers to win by 1-10!!

I did Tigers by 11+ 👌

Never say never as it tends to come back and bite you. If we have to dangle a carrot to offload a few contracts so be it. Okay not ideal, but if it means Madge get assemble a superior squad…so be it
