Queensland and South Sydney star Dane Gagai is reportedly considering a move away from the Rabbitohs.
Following the Rabbitohs’ decision to add James Roberts from the Broncos, The Daily Telegraph believes Gagai wants to shift from wing to centre, and is willing to leave the Bunnies to do so.
It is believed the Gold Coast Titans are interesting in Gagai’s services.
Initially, it was thought Gagai could leave the club before the June 30 deadline, although with another two years remaining on his contract, he could wait until 2020 to leave Redfern. Gagai’s current contract is worth more than $700,000 a season.
With Braidon Burns set to return from injury soon and retake his spot in the centres, Gagai believes he’ll be moved out to the wing permanently, but would rather play at centre.
Gagai has been a star on the wing for the Maroons, scoring 11 tries in 11 matches for Queensland since his debut in 2015.
I had never Considered or rated Gagai as a player till the Origin focus. Well he sure is a player.
I feel we need a good forward to really step up. An upgrade on anyone but Twal or Mattherson. I don’t see Gagai being a good fit where we are weak, although Fonua is out. I am really liking Fonua on our wing and Gagai wants to play Center, well hey we put Jennings/Nofo on the wings with a Marsters/Gagai center pairing.
That’s great but where do all our other buys go? Hooker is probably going to be our hardest position to fill next year. I can only see Gagai coming if we could talk swaps with Souths and someone like the Broncos could swing 600k his way…
Were just not in this race.

Well we won’t be signing him then. Move on.
Senseless to sign him on at that sort of money. Sure he plays great at rep level but we need someone to perform consistently for us at club level. He was rather quiet against us and we’re a mediocre side at best. He should have really put it on and he failed to.
Only scored two tries all year. “Scorey” Thompson has three times that many. He also has more line breaks and tackle breaks.
