Wests Tigers Results: Round 14
Mon 17 Jun 2019, 12:04 PM
It was a dramatic weekend of results for Wests Tigers as the NRL and Canterbury Cup sides both secured thrilling last-second victories to bounce back in to the winner’s circle.
A field goal to Benji Marshall on Friday night secured a crucial two points for Michael Maguire’s side over the North Queensland Cowboys, moving Wests Tigers to the edge of the top eight as they move past the midway point of the season.
Not to be outdone, however, the Canterbury Cup boys produced one of most dramatic finishes seen this season with a cross-field kick after the siren ending with Kane Bradley planting the ball down just inside the dead-ball line to secure the win.
Against a strong Knights side, the club’s Jersey Flegg side battled bravely but were unable to fight back after a good start with the visitors running out 22-6 in wet conditions at Campbelltown to keep Wests Tigers out of the top eight.
Western Suburbs Ron Massey ensured it would be an overall positive weekend with a strong return to form in a gritty 12-4 win over Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles.
After the stand-alone Representative Round this weekend, Wests Tigers will return home to Bankwest Stadium on Thursday, June 27 to face South Sydney in a blockbuster clash before the lower grades both take on the Rabbitohs on June 30.
Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg will also play Penrith on Saturday, June 22.
