@Anon-lurker My take on the matter was that it is the club that paid the lady, that was the picture that was painted, and the club being involved makes it a non-private matter. If whatever happened happened between the two people, and only those two people, then yes it’s no one else’s business, and not a scandal just one of those things that happens in life. But the minute Penrith the club became involved (assuming they did get involved) it became something so much more.

I don’t mean to start a debate upon abortion and such, that will be a massive can of worms which will probably get a bunch of us banned, but for me the club paying hush money to convince a mother to end her unborn baby’s life to spare the club a scandal is very very low.

I talked about the NRL being involved as if Penrith the club got involved, then the NRL should have done so to tell them to butt out.

I don’t like the outrage culture that has started to arise more frequently these days, I think it’s toxic, and apologies if my own words seemed a bit like that. I just don’t know where they put the line anymore about what’s acceptable - it seems that anything goes.

You’d think that if the woman involved does have the evidence to back this up, a lot of Panthers fans, and especially female Panthers fans would be up in arms about it.

yes it’s a private matter for Cartwright and his ex, but once the club becomes involved then it’s public…

now there’s a player who had potential only to gurgle it away with disastrous life choices…

From memory , wasn’t Lou Zivanonic involved in some way

I keep seeing this blokes head & name online for some reason

  • Why is there even a thread dedicated all for Ivan Cleary?

Yeah Ink , he was a prop for Penrith in the early 80’s from memory

I can’t remember if he was a manager or family friend of Bryce Cartwright’s but the story from memory was he was the go between with the girl and Cartwright and he made the offer of money …don’t quote …I’m getting older and the memory isn’t as good as it was once
