Luke Brooks' Running game

  • Brooks’ running game against the Knights was outstanding!
He ran for 153m, 5th highest for season (personal) and had 2 Try Assists.
And, he kicked for a total of 593m! His highest for the season.
In other words, we need Brooks to run more in games

  • As long as we dominate the other pack, win the ruck and gain an insane amount of possession, he will

And yet some are bagging him and saying he should be moved to #9.

  • He got great service from Benji and then Reynolds at Dummy half.
Brooks speed had the defence back-pedalling. His kicking game has been very good. Against the Cows at LO his bombs came down a meter in from the try line and we won big after all the field position. He repeated this against the Knights.

  • Definitely kicked very well - probably his best kicking game all season. Once again it comes back to time and space. The Knights didn’t really have much line speed to put him under.

  • It’s marvellous how good Brooks is when our forwards dominate the opposition.
When our forwards get run over he is crap.
Pearce( the form half of the comp) was crap in the Knight’s game, because his pack didn’t aim up

  • I’m loving the Brooks / Garner combo in attack this year.
When Garner gets fatigued his defence is awful. Hopefully he stays fit for the rest of the season.

  • Because the opposition was woeful, it’s pretty simple.

He can also run from 9 if the opposition lay down like Newcastle did

  • I dunno how people make serious comments about “Brooks needs to run the ball” each and every week. He runs 100m just about every week, even when the forwards don’t go well. His run metres are off the charts for a halfback/five-eighth.

For the record, after 22 matches he has run 2,501m at an average of 113m per game. That makes him the 43rd ranked player for run metres out of all NRL players.

  • @Kazoo-Kid yep and no offence to our props but playing behind rookies in Mikaele And Clark as our starting props Brooks has done well, our experienced front rowers have been busted most of the time since Woods left.
Look at the packs DCE and Cronk play behind.

  • His running game is his strength , the rest of his game works when he is positive and strong with his running game

  • His running game is good …

His short kicking game is weak …

    Consistency is the key …

If you noticed during the knights game he was slightly deeper on the last tackle allowing him to put up some good bombs …

Benji needs to teach him how to put up spirals !

  • Has a great running game. Great passing game great kicking game. Defence is pretty solid. IMO is probably in the top 4.

But can only be effective (like the majority of 7) behind a pack that dominates or at the very least is holding their own.

The state of origin winning half looked pretty ordinary, kept kicking the ball dead, couldn’t break the line, zip, nada, nil.

  • Played well this week. As he will every week when he runs first.

Lets see how he goes against the Sharks in two weeks when we need him to be at his best.
