Why Thompson should not be fullback.

Thompson is not up to it.

The dropped ball for the Lomax try can happen, and the penalty try was a bit dumb, but at fullback that happens (All be it, it happens to Thompson alot more than others…plenty of examples of this stuff last year).

But mainly, he is out of position every set. Saints could have scored 3 tries off kicks in the first half just on the basis of his position play. Even the dropped ball off the grubber was because he was out of position and had to run at a ridiculous angle. Then in attack, he completely stifles our backline sweeps.

Then of course, he makes more basic errors at the back than any other fullback (He did the same thing vs Dragons, Raiders etc last year).

Zzzzzz… That’s the spirit

The game is not even finished yet… geez

I agree. We should be aiming higher. Yeah It’s game 1, but I think AD needs to be our fullback this year and Thomson a back up utility option if there’s injuries.

ummmmmmmm because we have Dewey??

The End

Because he’s not a fullback

He was poor tonight I agree, except tackling fairly sound. Kick defence position was average and a few costly errors.

But he forced 2 huge errors making Frizell bomb 2 Try scoring opportunities…

Sorry mate . The reason he is “out of position “ is the defensive tactic of fielding 13 men in the defensive line . The Grub we behind the defensive line to the corners is the known weakness , and they train to limit that . But as the saying goes if they’re going to score , they can score in the corner .
Otherwise you are correct.
