The Men of League foundation is set to benefit from the “Try July” initiative, with Sportsbet to donate $5000 for every on-field post-try celebration in July.

The charity, which provides support to players, administrators, referees and volunteers is in particular need in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the extra financial hardship it has created plus the inability to hold regular fundraising events.

From rounds eight to 11, players are being encouraged to bring back the post-try celebration.

From the Greg Inglis goanna to the Wendell Sailor Didgeridoo, from the Nathan Blacklock backflip to the Timana Tahu slam dunk, from Mark “Piggy” Riddell giving himself a round of applause from the stands to the infamous State of Origin hand grenade, there have been plenty of memorable celebrations.

Sportsbet wants to bring back the post-try celebration to bring some extra joy to fans and some much-needed cash to Men of League, and will double the donation to $10,000 for particularly creative celebrations.

Whether it’s one-man effort or involving the entire team, re-creating a classic or a new twist on the genre, players are being asked to have a chat to their teammates and get involved for a good cause.
