Doueihi: Relaxed training week bringing out the best
      Author - Dan Talintyre
      Timestamp - Wed 19 Aug 2020, 01:47 PM

Wests Tigers fullback Adam Doueihi said a relaxed attitude at training last week helped the side start fast against the Bulldogs in Round 14 and they’ll look to employ a similar approach this week as they step it up against the two-time defending premiers in the Sydney Roosters.

Having burst out of the blocks to a 22-6 lead before being made to work for their two points in the end, Doueihi said a more relaxed approach to the week had helped Wests Tigers take the pressure off and end their run of three straight defeats.

Now, the attention turns to winning back-to-back games for the first time since Round 7 and keeping themselves in the hunt for a top eight finish.

“We’ve gone through part of the season where we felt like we’ve put in some really hard weeks of training,” Doueihi reflected.

"We come through the 80 minutes on game day and it just hadn’t worked out for us, so we came in last week and took the shackles off a bit with less meetings.

"We had a big turnaround so we had a few more games on the field and a bit more fun.

"It was more of a relaxed vibe last week, and even heading in to the game we were much more chatty in warm-up and had a really relaxed mood.

"We felt as though it worked come the 80 minutes on the weekend, so we’re going to take the same mindset in to this week — worry about ourselves and get our attack and defence right. We won’t worry too much on the Roosters but just about us.

“It’s been a tough season with no byes and not much of a freshen up when we’re in the thick of it, so when we have these longer turnarounds we’re going to have to take a bit of a step back,” he added. "But, in saying that, when we’re on the training paddock it’s all guns blazing and the intensity has been up where it needs to be.

"We’ve got no slouch in the opposition this week in the Roosters.

“They’re going to be up for it and have some big-name players back so I’m sure they will be up for it.”

Geez, saying that a 1 point win against the spooners was evidence of it working is a big call.

Rugby league journalism really needs to up its game. People are no longer interested in these fluff articles which serve no purpose other than to fill space. Also, nowhere in the article is Doueihi even quoted saying the words written in the title.

That’s a Wests tigers media release but yes, it’s crap.

The ones that really grind my gears are the pieces that link us to every off-contract player or players looking for an upgrade.

I dare say it’s all planned to set the Tigers in a bad light. Make us look bad when the player signs elsewhere looking to play “Finals Footy & Win Premierships”

              Example:
Player X is in hot demand right now and is keen on a move to fullback which he views as his preferred position because he played there from Under 5’s through Under 7’s.

Aside from the obvious pay increase the FB position commands compared to the Wing 3/4 position X feels(with advice from his manager) that the timing is right for this bombshell move.

In a stunning development it seems the struggling Wests Tigers are the favourites for X’s signature and view this potential signing as the missing ingredient for their top 8 hopes.

              TWO MONTHS LATER

In a stunning development the Sydney Roosters have swooped in under their rivals noses to snag the signature of player X.

The new 5 yr $1,000,000 deal is significantly less than the 5 yr $3,500,000 deal the STRUGGLING Tigers had offered, but with a last minute change of heart player X has stated that the allure of winning premierships and playing consistent top 8 footy was the catalyst for his decision. Also having tenants guaranteed for the next 5 yrs in his 3 new investment properties is an added bonus

I understand engagement with fans is important for the club however these articles have the reverse affect on me. Would rather less fluff and more substance

If you believe the article, any more relaxed and they’d be in a comatose state. 😂
In all seriousness though, must be a difficult job preparing a team during these times of bubbles etc.

Don’t have a go at the club, the questions are asked by other people from the media in the press conferences, this is pretty much just writing down what they said

When they actually do their own stuff it’s quite good but would be hard with covid and everything. The stupid reporters ask the same questions every week

Huh? That sounds a little suspicious, an indigenous outside back with speed to burn wants to play full back? Definitely headed for Souths. We should go for Staines or AJ?

It just shows just how far we are off the “THE WINNING CULTURE” at. the club
