Just caught the Benji 360 interview and I realized a couple of thing, firstly it wasn’t too bad and secondly there are some people on this forum that are too thin skinned. I am not a denier, Benji’s time has come, we all know that, his style of play doesn’t translate well to the modern game. I thought the interview was measured, it didn’t cover anything that hadn’t already been said, it wasn’t anti Madge and it put the emphasis for the performances back on the players not handling pressure and not being consistent.
Benji shouldn’t play again, not for fear of damaging his legacy, or other rubbish, the game has moved on, its time he did too. This next bit is not a job for the boys scenario, but the Tiger’s should get him to do their media, we all know he is adept at it, he has the ability to get most people on side, people listen to him, he relates to the fans and media like no one else, he knows virtually everyone and he is better than whoever is doing it now.Post of the day!
Agreed, the interview was nowhere near as bad as some people have made out.
Agree, some people have an axe to grind. I thought he spoke well and had no issues with the coach etc.
Why did he fee the need to bring up egg shells and his axing?
I thought he said the axing made him more determined to prove the coach wrong, nothing wrong with that. To me it shows determination. Also imo, it showed how some players are a bit precious and can’t handle hard work and criticism.
Exactly right. He answered honestly and there was no malice in what he said.
I guess you put a "true " clubman in that situation …he puts the club in a better light
Agree …
Benji started off the show on 360 speaking as he was still at West’s Tigers but from what hensaid you could tell he’s butthurtIf that was Rowdy or Aubusson …probably refuse to do the interview
Like when Rowdy refused to dig the boot into the club last year when told he didn’t have a contract leading into our biggest game of the season? Oh that’s right.

He responded that Madge needs to use different approaches for different players rather than one size fits all… I don’t think that needed to be said in public…
I agree. I agree with his comment but until he is officially retired and a media host, probs best to hold back such for now. If he retires this year I have no prob such comments next year as he will be constantly asked his opinion about Tigers and all clubs, and he should give compliments and criticism to all, as will be his career I am assuming.

Its been hinted a number of times that Ikin will be the new CEO of the Broncos and Benji to take Ikin’s hosting role on NRL360. Could be interesting.
One less reason to watch then the content is not much good anyway now, not sure if Ikin will be appointed.
Wonder what his relationship is like with Bennett now?
Seems frosty?I wonder whether post Benji’s retirement it ends up a bit like Shane Warne 's post retirement …players respect him as a footballer …but not as a person
He is not the brightest spark as well, knows lots about Cricket and Poker but nothing else.
When he was dating Hurley they called them Tweedle D & Tweedle Dumb and that was his close friends…lolBenji’s over inflated Ego will just show what his real character is like, hope the Club has pulled the Job offer now…
I still always come back to Fifita’s comments about two dressing rooms when he left
Jacob Miller always being overcalled by Farah and Marshall
Well sounds like they were not sharing the shower…lol
Well both have big ego’s although Farah more humble when he retired, New CEO the following year with new dressing sheds hopefully things will be different in 2022. -
At the awards night it was interesting that Benji thanked Ivan for bringing him back and didn’t mention Madge at all. Again Maguire loses the dressing room so it would be a brave club to extend his contract when players are going backwards and recruitment of top players is non existent during his 2 years.

It wouldn’t be brave at all. It would be sensible. Note to players - the coach runs the show. No more boys club.

Exactly, it would be stupid to sign yet another coach. Who would want to coach here if Madge wasn’t renewed?
Every coach in the last 10 years (outside Ivan who bailed early) has had their coaching career destroyed here.

All that shows is Benji is still a petulant child who cant deal with reality.Things needed to change at the club with Benji being a major problem.

Clap, clap, clap. Who are the big name recruits in the previous years? Packer? Reynolds? McQueen? Matulino? Ballin? They’ve just set the world on fire, haven’t they? Big names ain’t always better especially if the ability level no longer matches the ego.
We’ve recruited Tamou and will likely get JAC. Douehi was good this year. LL was outstanding. McIntyre really came on.
Lastly, nearly all of us only care about Benji the amazing player, not the diva/media personality. He can shut his trap now the career is over and he only seems to have one take anyway: talking about his (former) ‘beloved’ club.

Did he also think to thank IC for all the old retirees he signed on massive deals that offer nothing before walking out and leaving the club stranded for the next 3 years
Oh no wait it was Benji
Was a club great but only thinks of himself
-
Benji still is and will always be a club great, he now gets paid to have an opinion on TV etc still doesn’t diminish the great player he has been.
Everyone used to bag out Robbie on here but he went quietly into retirement the way Taylor treated him was disgraceful.
Maybe Madge has annoyed some of the playing group that way Tamau coming in is good as he can be like follow me this is how we win etc he will be a very good signing in attitude and culture. -
You guys know you’ve been trolled right ?
-
Did he also thank Ivan for leaving us up the creek without a paddle?
Loved Benji, but it’s time to move on. It would be a shame for him to throw his toys out of the cot before he leaves.

You mean someone from the Club reads our comments?
It would be silly not to think that there is club figures online that review some feedback, how else are they going to get ideas to better run the club. -

Well Madge did not renew his contract and he is bitter.
We move forward and i won’t be listening to his dribble on Fox.
Give it 2 seasons and he won’t be in the know.
Such a Sook and high inflated Ego. -

Hang on …how do you justify the link between your first sentence and your second? A stupid comment, at best.
You’re reading way too much into a disaffected Marshall who was, 10000% correctly, told we don’t need your rocks-and-diamonds stuff anymore. It’s nothing more than that.
