As I understand it Skando and Fitzy won’t be returning next season. I take my hat off to both of these men who have served our club loyally for a long period of time and represent 2 more of our 2005 premiership team gone from the TIgers.
The 2005 premiership was a fantastic reward for guys like Skandalis and Mark O’Neill who spent years doing their best for some pretty ordinary teams both pre and post merger. They were happy just to lace on a boot for the Wests Tigers and then to play a finals game was a dream come true. I’m sure they take great pride in sitting back knowing they are such an important part of Wests Tiger’s history.
Fitzy is obviously not everyone’s favourite player and I hope people can stop bagging the bloke in retirement for long enough to give him some credit for what he did. When Fitzy started playing, he was thrust into 5/8 early on because we had nobody else to do the job. It’s sometimes easy to forget just how tough it was back around 2001-2003 when avoiding the wooden spoon was a reasonable year. In his prime Daniel was a very good centre/winger and scored some very important tries for us. Above all he was a great servant to the club going to England when salary cap pressures forced him out. You can question his ability especially circa 2010 but I doubt you could question his love for the Tigers.
Hopefully first home game we’ll get a chance to farewell them in a manner they deserve. :supporter:

are you sure they wont be returning? i would love to see them both get contracts with Wests Magpies for next season. I think with their experience they could help that team alot.

I agree but I believe they are both retiring from NRL football. Skando obviously has a coaching role at the club. I think with the blokes we’ve got coming through it would be a good time to step back from playing. He’s got nothing more to prove on the field.

I agree, as much as I would hate to see Fitzy anywhere near the First Grade side (sorry), I would think it would really benefit someone of his experience to help guys our young wingers/centres/fullbacks! As for Skando, he can really teach those forwards a lot!
Anyhow, thanks for some tremendous years Fitzy and Skando.

Best wishes to both of them, as much as i disliked seeing them picked this year they have still both have incredible career’s (including 2005).
Im happy for both these to be involved in and around the club!
Best of luck in the future chaps!

It’s Ok Ben Galea is coming back…
Skando looked good yesterday…He will play forever…

I appreciate the efforts of both players but want neither anywhere near the club next season in any capacity as Sheens has proven time after time he can’t help himself

They have both had their moments. I have good memories of Fitzy carving teams up and Skando belting it up the guts and I wish them all the best.
In saying that I totally agree with smegs comments.

Fitzy & Skando, thanks for your efforts, over the years.
you were part of the team that won the title in 2005.
you played in the team in 2010 that reached the finals.
enjoy yourselves in retirement, you deserve it. -
Fitzy and Skando!..Thanks!..
-
Thank you to both players, they are both partly responsible for the greatness of this team.

I have a funny feeling we just might see Skando again, because the guy just never wants to retire, that and Sheens really has no faith in any props we currently have, but he is a legned always has been always will be and congrats on a great career skandoo !!
As for Fitzy, everyeone game him a little something during the season, but one of my highlights was seeing him race away to score under the posts against the Raiders and seeing all the players run over and celebrate with him, showed how much he was liked and how well respected he was. A Premiership player like Skando , whom wasnt brilliant but did his job and did it well with no if’s or but’s i hope he has a great life outside footy  -
Fitzy has the 2nd most tries for the club and Skando will be seen next year for Sure
