      Bulldogs player attacked with sword
      Chris Barrett and Aaron Cook
      September 29, 2010

A Canterbury rugby league player, Jamal Idris, was attacked with a sword during a family reunion at Forster, on the mid-north coast, at the weekend.

The NRL club last night confirmed the 20-year-old centre had been involved in a family dispute but said he had sustained no injuries from the attack despite being allegedly struck on the neck.

‘‘The club has been made aware of the issue,’’ said the Bulldogs’ chief executive officer, Todd Greenberg. ‘‘Jamal is fine and has not been injured and we understand that the matter is in the hands of the police.’’

Idris showed little concern over the incident yesterday. He was at the Bulldogs’ Homebush Bay office for a consultation with the club’s physiotherapist, but did not mention the sword attack to club officials.

A police spokesman said a 20-year-old man had appeared in Taree local court yesterday over the incident. ‘‘At 2am Saturday two men, both aged 20, became involved in an argument in Forster. One of the men left the home, returned a short time later with a sword,’’ he said.

‘‘He threatened the other man with the sword and allegedly struck him on the neck. The injured man sustained swelling and bruising.’’

The guy’s obviously a mental scumbag.

If your gonna throw down, use your fists you pussy!

The speed of his conviction shows he must have a string of priors….

sends a clear message, to the public, that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.
good on the magistrate for giving him a holiday :master:
all of of people whinge when the penalty appears to be weak, for the offence committed. 😊
                  this one is not.
commit the crime, then do the time.
