USA TRIP PROVES BENEFICIAL FOR WESTS TIGERS
20/10/2010 1:07:59 PMWests Tigers recently sent two of its conditioning staff on a trip to the US to learn more about athletic development and the prevention of injuries.
The club sent NRL Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator Sean Burns and U20s Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator John Skandalis on a two week trip where they visited the LA Kings (NHL Ice Hockey), San
Antonio Spurs (NBA Basketball) and College gridiron teams Texas LongHorns and Ohio State Buckeyes.“Each of these clubs are leading teams within their respective sports,’’ Burns said.
“We watched Ohio beat Indiana to grab the top ranking spot across the nation.
“The trip was a fantastic opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas about general athletic development.
“The scale of these organisations and size of their budgets is enormous.
“However we were still able to come back with various training ideas methods with a view to keeping training fresh and innovative for Wests Tigers players.
“We forged some great relationships with Head Coaches, strength and conditioning coaches and medical staff from each club. It was a very worthwhile trip.”
