For those forum members, who have fair skin.
regardless of what time of year it is, Make sure when you go out into the sun, you are wearing sun block, a hat and even long sleeves, and cover up the entire back of your neck, and as much of ears as possible.

On Tues I had a sun cancer cout out of base of back of my neck, requiring 5 stitches, and two areas on my left arm blasted with the freezing spray.

No this is not a whinge fest, just a reminder for people to be wary of sun damage.

      have a great off season.
looking forward to seeing you in 2011 :wahoo:

        Well said!
And while we’re on public service announcements, if you’re anywhere near any sort of grassy, rocky, overgrown be careful of snakes. They are well and truly out (have been for some time) and with all the water around their food is very very plentiful so there’s lots of snakes around.

People my age - old farts - who spent the majority of their childhood beach, swimming cricket etc and in the sun should have regular check reardless of preventative measure now….its good to protect now but in many cases the damage was done years ago and can surface at any time.
Im lucky my employer provides us with a free check each year as we work outdoors often

I have a mole or two that I need to get checked in my holidays over summer. One protrudes from my back and it just doesn’t look right. I’m pretty certain they will take it out.

Back in the 70s when Mum was a teenager, she used to go to the beach every weekend and rub oil on herself so she could burn and get a tan (Just before the Slip Slop Slap days).
And for the last 10 years she has had numerous skin cancers and melanomas cut out ranging from her back to her forehead to her lip.
I have fair skin so naturally she ALWAYS tells me to cover up and put sunblock on!

                  Yes….we used coconut oil.
                  Not a good idea.

Yes Tigergirlz I remember people lathering baby oil and coconut reef oil all over themselves and there was a bloke at Surfers Paradise beach who used to spray it on for people using a spray gun. I didn’t bother with that stuff as I burned regardless.
