The man colourfully know as “Piggy” signed a three year deal with Super League side Wigan in 2009 however left his final year to return home and be with his mother, who is battling cancer.
Tomorrow’s announcement will see the former Dragon and Eel on a second tier contract as a shadow player for classy test star Robbie Farah.
Tigers prop, Keith Galloway said that Riddell will make a smart back up for the Tigers skipper.
“Obviously Robbie’s the main hooker (but Riddell) can play hooker, second row and kick goals which will add a bit of experience,” he said.
Should Riddell be required, it would relieve kicking pressure off Golden boot winner Benji Marshall with Riddell in possession of a handing attacking and goal kicking game.
The rake leaves the Super League with a premiership having defeated St. Helens in this year’s grand final.
The Tigers will hold a press conference at 11.30am tomorrow where CEO Stephen Humphreys will make “a number of key announcements for season 2011.”
Piggy should nbe a useful back up for a numkber of positions and goalkicking if he is in the team.
