        @Chris:

These 2 awesome interviews of the great man on WTV.

        .

Great man?? Jesus Christ was a great man !! I wish we could have had our sponsors tied up by December that way our merchandise could have been out been out before Xmas and marketed as Xmas gifts. That has been poor. Also his lack of ability to cultivate and embrace the MacArthur area with conviction has left alot to be desired. MacArthur is a teamless region with Wests Tigers doing very little promotion in the area. School visits are good but not what they should be.

Humphreys had a golden opportunity to hold the press conference for the Meriton Sponsorship and new jumper in the MacArthur region but he opted to hold it in the back of the grandstand at Leichhardt oval where 20 people turned up.

He needs to target MacArthur more than what he does as the old market of Balmain fans and Wests Burwood / Ashfield / Lidcombe fans are well established. What are his goals for the MacArthur region? The answer is zero, play more games in the city which is 60 km’s away. The Roosters are invading MacArthur and school kids are being given Sydney Roosters supporter kits . We need our management to step up to the mark, identify it’s market and work towards expanding it and nurturing it.

Imagine how great an open day jersey launch at MacArthur Shopping centre would have been for the club. If the sponsors were secured, Lawrence, Benji, Robbie, Rhino and the boys on stage to several hundred fans and the team store selling a bucket load of jumpers.

As the CEO, he has failed on so many opportunities. I am yet to see him satisfy the requirements of the people of MacArthur and dare I say, they are being treated with great contempt.

        It is a great shame.

Come on Humphreys, show us what you’ve got.

Im going to upset some people here but have to tell it how it is.I must admit he does come across well in interviews.Being an ex reserve grader with Balmain he does have passion for the club. But im not jumping up and down like many others supporting the club thinking hes the ants pants.
He was a CEO of Qantas eh….Is that such a good thing?I mean look at Qantas.Troubles everywhere and this was when he was still there.
And he takes a home ground advantage in the semis away from us and we get beaten.Humpy is feeling his way as a CEO but i must admit though his recruitment has been first class.Go the Humpy.

Some people can never be pleased. Apart from Tim Sheens, the guy is the best thing that has happened to this club. Since he’s taken over from Noyce/Longmuir it’s no coincidence or fluke that this club has progressed forward in a major way, on and off the field. We’re in the market for the first time ever with top line footballers and our sponsorship value and credibility off the field has gone up. He is probably the best CEO in the NRL, what more do you people want?

I have full confidence in that every decision he makes, it is made on the best interests of the club.

I think alot of the resentment towards Steve Humphreys is from people who aren’t over the Magpies no longer exsisting.

He’s gotten us multi-million dollar sponsorship, had a hand in some brilliant recruitment and runs the club in a way which keeps everyone happy…but he didn’t launch a jersey at some shopping centre, so he sucks?

Wests Tigers is bigger that Macarthur region etc.

                    We are a national Brand

The Tigers Management and Marketing mob probably didn’t want to subject Harry and the Media on that long drive south, Hence the Leichardt thingy.

In addition I don’t want my WT to be seen as boxed into that region as it is perceived as very houso-ish.

Humph has been a machine so far - after all he got us Benji 4 life, Lote for 3 and resigned Coach Sheens.

100% correct SunTan Man, there are a lot of bitter people out West who want it all their way. Getting sponsors and the like to travel out to Macarthur was never going to happen, time is money to these people and the less they are inconvenienced the better. Humphreys is very astute (Adjective: Having or showing an ability to accurately assess situations or people and turn this to one’s advantage: “an astute businessman”) and has been nothing but great for the club thus far, maybe when we win the comp this year they will realise just how good he is.

I have not been to Macarthur for a very long time but the club does work in Campbelltown and if East are trying to get a foot hold there like you say i think the club should look into it the kids are the future of the club Dont want to loose good kids to East for lack of trying

But to say Launch a Major Sponsor at Macarthur shopping Square i think the club is a little past that well i hope it is
just think what future Sponsors will think great i get to Launch there and its only costing a few million to do so Macarthur here i come

But i am very worried about East and some one said they are going to open a football clinic or some think there in the near future maybe it was Nerallen area to steel young kids from us

I can’t imagine too many kids travelling to Bondi from Macarthur, Wests will always get first choice on the best kids as long as they are doing their job properly. The Roosters have very few juniors and I don’t see any problem with them giving kids an oppurtunity as long as we don’t miss out the ones that we heve targeted.

I agree with Flash. Humphreys oozes professionalism and discipline and that will result in success on and off the paddock. I hope he is committed to our club for many years to come!

Leaving aside the fact that Qantas was probably the only airline making profits when he was CEO, surely you can see the benefits of having someone with experience running a big company (and the corporate connections that entails) would bring to the Wests Tigers?

For my 2 cents the decision to play the semi at the SFS was the correct decision. In my opinion is he easily the best CEO the club has got and the club has never been in better shape on and off the field*.

                              • Yes I’m aware we won the comp in 2005 but for mine 2011 is the first time we could start a season as legitimate premiership contenders.

Expectations very high for 2011 and justifiably So…

Only 9 days to go till the new year and then only 73 days till Monday the 14th March @ 1900 hrs (But whos the tragic counting…)

Let’s not forget how he held the NRL to ransom and got a massive cash deal for us to switch the game to the SFS. It seems that how he played the NRL really got up their nose because now they changed the rule for semi finals. Did they change the rule for the betterment of the game or did they change it because Humphreys made them look stupid? Something no other CEO has attempted or pulled off in the past.
