I regard the NRL as a fantastic league with a very high standard of rugby and very unpredicatable. So i have always wanted to know how constant followers of the NRL regard the Engage/European Super League (ESL).
Cheers. -
In my opinion I find the English Super League to be more of a forwards game in terms of the ruck being more fast.
Although knowing some of the English players eg. Morley, Peacock, Burrow and Sinfield.
Although having a player drain of Australians go to England, you get to see them in action too. Like Patty Richards and Brett Hodgson. As well as the way they show the animation when a try and conversion is going to be scored has always been one of my favourite moment.

I haven’t been able to ‘view’ the ESL since the rights went to free-to-air. Really miss it.
-
Yeah I miss it too, would love it to be back on fox sports. It’s not in the same league as nrl, but still good to watch more footy!
-
I watch the odd game just for the “Oh I remember him!” moments.
An ESL drinking game would be stock fair at a mates place - everytime you hear the name of a player you remember from the NRL you take a sip of your drink. It needed to be sips, not chugs, otherwise you’d be blistered by half time.
-
i thought it was a superannuation fund for retiring footballers

Channel 9’s coverage of the ESL is a disgrace and it should be in the hands of a station that is fair dinkum about telecasting the games.
For a while early last year I was able to watch the bskyb games on a live feed on the desk top but the quality was awful.
The first year that 9 showed the matches they played them before the 4.00pm Sunday game as a way of distracting viewers away from Foxsports Sunday arvo 2.30 game and last year screened the games at a terrible hour, 11.00pm or later.
The only thing that was in 9’s favour is that they showed the games 24 hours after being played but on the other hand Foxsports at least showed the games twice in the week following the match.
I hope I can insipre other forum members to get in touch with 9 and it’s affiliates WIN & NBN and let them know we’re not happy. :brick: -
Absolutley agree Leroy….
ESL?..some games can be very entertaining and quite a few turn to farce very quickly. It’s played totally differently to the out and out slog that can be the NRL - sort of like 20/20 cricket. They seem so jumpy…have to score off every play. When it comes off it’s great to watch but its not really how the game is supposed to be played.
The NRL is by far the superior competition, I do hope though that the ESL continues to improve as I love Test footy and the Brits arent on the same level as the Kangaroos and Kiwi’s.
