Just read this article on the tigers site about the future blues program Ricky Stuarts got up and running.

There’s seven Wests Tigers players on the list. Unfortunately I’m too technologically challenged to copy over the article. Maybe somebody with a bit more computer literacy than me could post it up.

Sorry, I should have at least listed the players:
        1.Galloway
        2.Fififa. A.
        3.Woods
        4.Dwyer
        5.Heighnington
        6.Moltzen
        7.Ayshford.

        Interesting.

Interesting indeed, the lack of Farah and Lawrence suggests it’s a squad for the future (beyond 2011) but the inclusion of Heighington would suggest otherwise.

I think it’s a squad that is unlikely to get picked this year, but are on the fringe. I hate to say it, but I don’t think heino will ever make the squad unless he goes to another level. NSW have some cracking options in the 2nd row.

Lawrence and Farah are probably almost certainies to at least make the training squad.

Aaron Woods must be quite a good player to have made the squad without any first grade experience.
Will definately need to keep an eye on the 20s this year.
Glad that Dwyer is in the mix he thouroughly deserves it.
I think Heino shot himself in the foot with all this talk of playing for England and questioning why he wasnt in the side. Those sort of capers tend to leave you on the outer with selectors which is a shame.

It’s a pretty broad ranging squad. There’s guys in there that have played origin before, and then players like Woods that haven’t cracked first grade yet.

I wonder what position they’re thinking of as far Moltzen is concerned, maybe the now compulsory “utility” spot.

Fraze, I agree about Heighno’s comments probably not helping his cause, but when you look at Gallen and Birds wrap sheets surely Heighno’s not even in the same ball-park. Obviously blues management are very forgiving people!

Good to see so many Tigers named. The fact that Farah and Lawrence were not named suggests they will be very strong chances to make this year’s squad provided they are in form.

SEVEN TIGERS PLAYERS NAMED IN “BLUES IN WAITING” SQUAD
                      13/01/2011 4:15:06 PM

Seven Wests Tigers players have been named in a 51 man squad for a “Blues in Waiting” camp at Homebush in January next week.

Keith Galloway, Andrew Fifita, Aaron Woods, Simon Dwyer, Chris Heighington, Tim Moltzen and Blake Ayshford will attend a three-day camp which will begin Friday January 21 at 3pm and will conclude Sunday January 23 at 11am.

NSW Blues Coach Ricky Stuart said one of the main objectives of the camp is to have players eligible for NSW Origin aware of pathways for selection and have some further knowledge regarding the tradition and history of State of Origin Rugby League.

“I am of firm belief that Origin victories are built on the culture and attitude of players and their desire to have respect for the NSW jumper,” Stuart said.

“I am fully aware of the differences required for players to adapt to Origin football as compared to the weekly grind of the premiership and hopefully with these players we can make a difference at Origin time.

“Many of the players have progressed from very successful junior representative sides for New South Wales and into NRL teams and we believe they have the ability to progress further into senior Origin teams.

“One of the key messages for our “Blues in Waiting” squad members will be that all they can do is prepare and be ready for when this time arrives.”

The players will be put through some individual testing at the New South Wales Institute of Sport and one skill/drill session on the Saturday 21st at Homebush.

Guessing either in the same boat as Farah and Lawrance or not considered to be in the top 70 eligible blues players in the NRL?

Not so Sure - Why would you drop Timmy Mannah. One of the few Eels that played and actually put in every game for them. His Debut in Game 3 was pretty good as well.

Highno is an Honest player - It’s unfortunate that the Game is seeing a swarm of 2nd rowers for him to compete with for rep Spots. I reckon that if he gets a Blue jersey he will absolutely Kill it.

A fitting reward for thier efforts in 2010….

I agree with some, I cant see Heighington getting in the 17, but at least he has been acknowledge as a quality player. I hope he goes on and plays out his career at the Tigers, and maybe one day we might see the ‘c’ beside his name? I can see Heighington getting an Australian Jumper before a NSW Jumper. (I know which one I’d prefer)

Interesting to see Ayshford named, but as Redemption aluded to, NSW a very light on for Right Centres, so anything can happen with Injuries…

Gota feel for Bryce Gibbs, but again its clear why he isnt in the mix. Another boy who hopefully can see out his career with the Tigers.

Will Fifita play for the Blues or do you think he will opt out to play for New Zealand?
