QLD MEMBER MEETS TEAM IN IPSWICH
By Nathan Ross
27/01/2011 3:10:40 PMWests Tigers Member Kerrie Shirley was extremely excited about the team’s trip to Ipswich when she heard it was going ahead.
“Living up here in Queensland, it’s not every day you get the chance to see the team up close,” she said.
Kerrie, currently living in the Ipswich suburb of Brassall, was one of the lucky ones to escape danger in her area following the recent floods. Her house is only a short distance away from the North Tigers Junior Rugby League Club, which was completely inundated by floods.
After hearing of Wests Tigers visit to her home town, she immediately got in touch with the Club to see if she could help in their fundraising efforts.
On the second day of the team’s trip, she was fortunate to meet the players and grab a few autographs and pictures as well as wishing them the best of luck for the upcoming season. She also brought along her son Blake, a keen supporter and her daughter Sarah, who recently became a Member.
“It’s an experience that my family and I will not forget and we are extremely appreciative of the Club for making us feel so special.”
Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said it was a pleasure for the players to meet Kerrie.
“It was fantastic that we could touch base with one of our loyal members being so far away from our home,’’ Humphreys said.
“All the guys know how important it is to have loyal fans like Kerrie who become Members, so it was great to be able to thank her and the family for their support."
