Unbelievable news again…hope its an overstated threat.
Cairns is my home town, I’ve been on the phone all day. People up there are pretty tough and semi used to it but it’s scarey as hell all the same.
-
i cant believe people are staying. they say “we have nowhere to go”. how about SOUTH. its not like they werent given an early enough warning :brick:
-
I hope everyone finds appropriate refuge up there and stays safe and uses commonsense.
Were all thinking of you.
-
I am not particularly religious - but my thoughts & prayers are with everyone in the region!
Good luck poppa!

This sucks.
My mother lives on Magnetic Island - which is approx 5kms off townsville. she’s currently bunkered down at her sisters place, which is on higher ground, and we have been in contact via sms. Very shaken up, however putting on a brave face. All the trees around the house are horizontal (this was at 7:30pm NSW time, let alone now) and the wind and rain is currently relentless.
this will probably keep up until the morning.
The underdog will be going to work tomorrow morning without any sleep, methinks…
-
i thought they were evacuating magnetic island?
doesnt mr sheens have property there too?
-
i just heard on sky news channel that there are waves 9 meters high off the coast of townsville
-
doesnt seem like it was as bad as they thought it was going to be. no one has died as far as they know. dodged a bullet there.

The dissapointment in the voices of the ambulance chasing media was evident this morning

x2… Someone should tell Karl & Kocjie Logie Nominations have Closed!!!
I was laughing my head off this morning when Channel Nine were broadcasting the Today show with an hour delay… Everything was dark in North Queensland, but funnily enough, the Sun was up an hour ago in South East Queensland

Koch. The Beaconsfield Ambulance Jumper. Nuff said
-
Koch is a peanut of the highest order.
His laugh runs through me & I hate his cult-esque attitude toward the sunrise viewer base.
He is the lovechild of Dilbert and Jim Jones.

magnetic island was indeed door-knocked and people were given the chance to evacuate, however the ferries had stopped, so it was to evac centres on the island, which were frankly very small.
mum and her sister spent the night huddled under the stairs and in the bathroom. kept in touch with them until 5:45am via text and spoke to them this morning approx Although they were very shaken, they are now safe and well. vegetation was absolutely shredded, with most trees uprooted, etc… however the houses are all intact - at least in their immediate area.
Living in the suburbs of Mount Annan, I really couldn’t comprehend what they would have gone through last night - and the kicker is, they didn’t cop the full brunt of it, so I shudder to think what Innsvail (sp?) would have been like.

Glad to hear your mum and aunt are OK, underdog. It must have been a very scary time for everyone up there.
