After a less than excited lead up to the GF during the week, was keen to get there yesterday to see how the lack of interest might translate on the day. I thought it an uninspiring game to be honest, not helped by a very low key atmosphere. The combination of a much disliked team with a low supporter base against an out of town group was always going to be tough assignment for the marketing types, but I thought it might just rank as the worst GF I’ve attended.

There were some good moments during the day however, with the NYC being an absolute cracker and one Benji Marshall doing a Q & A session during lunch. Felt a little sorry for Benj, it’s always a hard ask trying to do your best when 75% of the room are tanked and more interested in the sound of their own voices. Interestingly, Benj didn’t stay for the game, he headed straight home ! Can’t help thinking that he may have still been hurting a little from the Warriors semi. He was probably hurting a whole lot more after that game, which by general consensus was a dud. You wonder what might have been?

x 2 ct, … absolutely the worst g/f i have seen since i dont know when. a dud game won by a dud team. when the tigers blew the warriors match you could sense every other team in the finals breathing a huge sigh of relief. next year ct, next year ! would love to see the tigers ( with adam blair ) playing manly at leichardt.

Worse than when Manly obliterated Storm in 2008? It sucks to watch a whitewash, at least the Warriors put up a good fight yesterday.

I was at the Melbourne-Parra GF in 2009 too, that also was average after Parra’s fairytale run died in the first 20 minutes.

Can confirm Benji did stay for the game as I walked in with him haha.

On my way out I walked past Michael Ennis and called him a muppet. Highlight of the day.

OK, well once he’d finished the Q & A session, which was in the ‘Olympian Room’ at ANZ, the young lady MC asked him if he was staying to watch the game and he said ‘no I’m going home to watch it’. Change of heart perhaps?

Tactical move more likely in order to gain some peace from the groupies.

Harsh judgement…after a bit of an arm wrestle at the beginning, game got quite interestingwhen the Warriors got on a roll in second half
Thought the warriors showed in past fortnite that we may have underestimated them …

Clearly drunk too much too quickly and a bit of sour grapes because the Tigs were’t there? I thought the first half was quality. Massive hits, great runs and a big arm wrestle. Much better final than the previous two years.

Thought the first half was played in slow motion but the second half was better, could of been interesting if the Warriors could of held the the ball, & the refs were shocking.

Warriors didn’t bring their A-Game, Manly did all they had to do. Wasn’t a bad grand final, but certainly not a cracker. The event/day I thought was pretty good, but that’s just me, I just wish 9 wouldn’t go to 9 news before the game, really killed it for me.

The worst grand finals i’ve ever seen were the ones the broncos have played in. That one against the roosters in particular was diabolically bad.
