While I have concerns about the future of Balmain Leagues Club, what does this financial mess mean to the future Of Wests Tigers? Am I correct in believing that Wests Tigers are doing better than many of the NRL clubs, financially?
-
Im not too sure about the Tiger’s financial status but as stated in another thread I believe that, in order to make the NRL into a truly National Competition, there needs to be a lot less Sydney clubs. Who knows what will happen. Maybe some team will up and move to Perth.
One thing that annoyed me during the Super League saga was that not one Super League club had to merge.
Now look at a team like Cronulla. They have not been travelling all that well. They are under the News Corp. brolly.
There should be mergers and movements, either out of Sydney or out of the comp!Question: What do my fellow Wests Tigers Supporters think of the Wests Australian Tigers?
-
Wests Australian tigers would see me stop following league. While we are a new club as such since the merger, combined we have one of the greatest histories in the comp and to take that from Sydney would be a disgrace. Wests tigers are one of the most popular sporting brands in not only league but Sydney. It wouldn’t make sense to move us to wa, but when you look at how the sharks have travelled recently (financial dramas, player scandals, no fans, struggle to win games), guess I’m just saying other clubs would make more sense……
Now the western Australia sea eagles, THAT has an amazing ring to it!!! -

I am tempted to say the Western Australian Sharks ( I am serious)
I think Cronulla could be a success in PerthTigers should relocate to Central Qld

We are not going anywhere. We have already made our sacrifice for the good of the game.
We don’t need to do anything other than continue with our current business model. We can dominate Sydney.
-
WA sharks for sure
-
Taking a team that is broke and isnt winning is fruitless…. No one wants to buy a cheap smelly prawn!!!
Wests Tigers is the perfect fit to relocate to Perth, but as many have pointed out, Wests & Balmain made a great sacrifice in 1999 to form our new club based in Sydney. That sacrifice should be enough while other Sydney Clubs sat on there hands…
lol… Love the idea of Western Sea-Eagles though!!!
-
I’m not a fan of relocation. If i was a league fan in Perth and i didnt support the Sharks or the Tigers or whoever before they moved to Perth, why would I when they are in Perth?
I would want my own team, not an unsuccessful dud team from Sydney. For a new team to flourish in Perth, Adelaide, Central Queensland or where ever, it needs to be a new brand made specifically for the area, not just some recycled crap from Sydney. -
what if we keep sixteen but do something different
1. North Queensland Cowboys
2. Brisbane Broncos
3. Gold Coast Titans
4. Central Queensland Whatevers
5. Melbourne Storm
6. Canberra Raiders
7. Newcastle Knights
8. New Zealand Warriors
9. Wests Tigers
10. Parramatta Panthers
11. St George Illawarra Dragons
12. South Sydney Sharks
13. Central Coast Eagles
14. Perth Reds
15. Canterbury Bulldogs
16. Sydney RoostersThat leaves 5 sydney teams but everyone still has their team remain. i think penrith and parra should merge but doubt souths and sharks would be hard to do as would manly moving back to the central coast. a perth and central queensland team would come in and also not make the comp weaker with the same amount of teams thus players will have the same opportunites
-
I like the above idea but there is no way souffs would merge.

you never know you could get sharks and canterbury to merge as well or sharks are the team to relocate to these areas only real options
-
The biggest problem with a merge between Parramatta and Penrith is the debts Parra face. Yes they could form a new company as Parramatta Panthers and start with a clean slate, but how do they set up the ownership provenence? We will probably end up in the same situation as the Northern Eagles…
I think its best to stay away from anything Parra!!!

Canterbury does not merge with teams, it will take them over.
I would venture to guess that Wests, Canterbury, St. George-Ill and the Roosters would be the only teams that would not move from Sydney.
Parra, Penrith, Manly, Cronulla and Souths are all on the radar for mergers/relocations.

Not so convinced on Roosters Gary Eventually they will need to find a bigger junior base or they will perish without intervention
