Long-time friend of WTForum.com Westie files this report from the UK:

England back rower Gareth Ellis said this week he’s glad to have Wests Tigers team mate Chris Heighington beside him when they take on the Kangaroos and Kiwis.

The powerhouse forward told The A-Team that Heighington had quickly made his mark amongst his new team mates.

“He’s added a lot to the England set up and he’s settled in really well,” said Ellis after England’s easy defeat of Wales.

“All the boys are really glad to be playing alongside him.”

The feeling is mutual, with Heighington singing England veteran Ellis’ praises.

“He’s an awesome guy,” said Heighington.

“On the field and off the field, he’s a champion. He’s one of my great mates.”

Ellis will also line up against club mates, with Chris Lawrence and Keith Galloway likely to feature for the Kangaroos at Wembley this weekend and Kiwi captain Benji Marshall a constant threat.

The two-time Wests Tigers player of the year is excited to take on his antipodean buddies but realises they will pose a significant threat to England’s hopes of finally claiming some silverware.

“It’s something I’ve not done for a while and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Ellis.

“It’s obviously going to be a step up playing against Australia and New Zealand over the next couple of weeks.

“The boys from the Wests Tigers are going to be big threats.”
