ROBBIE FARAH TIPS CITY JERSEY FOR BLAKE AYSHFORD
By Wayne Cousins
16/11/2011 4:35:44 PMWests Tigers Captain Robbie Farah expects right centre Blake Ayshford to be pushing strongly for a City representative jersey next season.
Farah was highly impressed with Ayshford’s form throughout 2011 and believes the talented youngster is ready to step into the representative arena.
“I thought Blake was unlucky not to get a start in the City side this year,’’ Farah admitted.
“A lot of the work he does probably goes un-noticed because we have the strike edge on the left side with Gareth Ellis, Chris Lawrence and Lote Tuqiri.
“Blake went about his business this year and did an outstanding job especially when Chris Lawrence was out. He had to step up and become that strike player for us.
“He played every game and I can’t recall him playing a bad one to be honest.
“Blake is a pretty quiet kid who goes about his business without too much fuss. He had some niggling injuries that probably could have seen him miss a few games but he just got out there and did his job for the team.”
Ayshford said a rep jersey would be nice but he had a far greater goal on his mind.
“My goal next year is to improve myself as a player to help the team win the title,’’ he said.
“Whatever I can do to achieve that, I will. If that means I get a rep jersey along the way, then so be it. If it doesn’t, it won’t worry me.
“The main thing, after being so close again this year, is to win the title.”

Blake really did step up this year. City next year would be a good achievement, but ultimately I think NSW honours aren’t out of the question in a few years!
One of my favourite players, no fuss, great attitude, safe and consistent, yet beginning to show form that he can turn a game just as much as Lawrence/Marshall/Farah.
Can’t wait to see how he goes in 2012.

X2 I’m so glad that Blake is at WT - he is a huge asset to the team and he has SOO written all over him.

Blake is a big talent glad his with the tigz and lucky sheens used him over collis. Look at collis now haha.
-
Just like Chris Lawrence he is the complete package, we are lucky to have him and need to make sure we keep him!

was outstanding this year.

City? I’d say he will be the Right Centre for NSW… Playing a secondrower hasnt worked the last few years, then they tried Gasnier (bahaha) and didnt that mamoth Idris have a game there also?
Get with the program Ricky… Blake is your man to mark Inglis!!!
[sad part is I think we will lose our frontrow and centres this year to origin]

We are keeping him we re signed blake untill 2015. And chris lawrence until 2016 we resigned them both this year what a great centre pairing we have for years to come.

I’ll believe that when I see it, Watto. I still have no faith in the current NSW selectors. They seem to go out of their way to choose players from other clubs before selecting a Tigers’ player in their team. Ayshford and Farah should be in the squad, but only Lawrence and Galloway will make it - and even they will be pushing it, I reckon.

Blake is great! I hope he achieves that goal of winning the title next year! :sign:

Blake certainly did step it up this season and we can expect further improvements next year . Yes he seemed to be carrying an injured ankle for 4-5 weeks as well but battled on regardless
Coaches just love players like Blake -
Nice of Robbie to be supporting a team mate, good luck to Blake if he can break through the political barrier then he could get there. As for Robbie, concentrate on your own game big fella, all the best for 2012 particularly when you go head to head with the hushpuppies from bankstown.

I think everyone has seen what Blake can actually do this year, since our playmakers relied so heavily on him with the complete devastation of our left side.
He hasn’t turned into this player in one season, he’s always been like that. Big strong runner of the ball, goo pace, hard to tackle, and great ball security. The hallmarks of a good centre. It’d be just rewards for him to get a City guernsey this year.

i didnt rate him in 2010… i thought he was slow and a hog… but he seems to have really kicked on since he was told he was on the chopping board late 2010…
you know how hard it is to loose kgs these days… im going to have to do overtime at the gym to work all the Humble Pie off…
2012 is to far away… lets HTFU… bring it on!!!
