So Balmain is the sole NSW Cup feeder for Wests Tigers in 2012.

      How did this get allowed!!!

This joint venture prides itself on being a 50/50 partnership, now this!!!

This is a huge kick in the teeth for Wests fans, the Macarthur region and Rugby Leagues battle for the Western Suburbs of Sydney.

Absolutely disgusting!!! This better be rectified, and quickly!

I dont think its a kick in the teeth for the Macarthur region and Rugby League in the Western Suburbs, Balmain will be using the players from this region who have a WT Contract…

There will be plenty of your Wests Juniors on display, with a clearer pathway to the NRL!

No holding back there galahs! Magpie diehards are seen as obstructive and counter productive to WT as a whole. We are PASSIONATE and VOCAL and dont want to see the traditional wests/magpies die off for good. If balmain fc dont have the $ to run a nsw cup team then magpies (being the other football half of the jv) should default as the single feeder side to WT. The ‘one brand’ arguement is irrelevant when it comes to the nsw cup. Roosters are fed by the jets, souths are fed by the bears, panthers are fed by the wolves, eels are fed by wenty, warriors are fed by vulcans and dragons will be fed by illawarra in 2012. I know the nsw cup is insignificant to many in rugby league but its an oppurtunity for the magpies to still ‘exist’ at senior level. Its up to WT management and WSDRLFC to make this a possibility… Unless ashfield decide otherwise then the debate will live on. Diehards may die off one day but there are a generation of old magpie fans that still want to see the brand live on in some small capacity. Its a shame that balmain fans dont have the same passion to stay alive like the magpies.

I think you will find that Newtown feeds Roosters, Bears feed souths, Windsor feeds Panthers, Wenty feed Eels, Vulcans feed warriors, And the Illawarra to feed Dragons… under the conditions of the parent team.
WT want to do things thier way… WSDRL Don’t want a bar of it!!
            … So what’s the question??

              The question is, why Balmain.

balmain are happy to ditch their club and become the Wests Tigers in the NSW Cup, the Magpies arn’t. That is our choise, no one elses.

So if Balmain can’t afford a team, why are the Wests Tigers propping them up and sending NO resources to the Wests Magpies

Tell me how that is fair

The REAL question is why are you making a point of something that already occurred in 2011 as if it is a new arrangement?

You answered your own question about alleged “unfairness” in your second paragraph - that being WDRFLC have made their “choice” - NOT Wests Tigers!!!

Last year we got no NRL players from the Wests Tigers squad, now our NSW Cup isn’t an official feeder for the Wests Tigers at all!!!

                  Big Difference!

Oh I see now - a huge difference!!!

                    Actually I don’t!

How exactly is it different to 2011 - WSDRFLC have just made it official!!

WT also never pulled any players from your squad to fill in at first grade in 2011 - so while you see that as a slap in the face - it is also a competitive advantage in the NSW Cup!

What Wests did get was former WT u20s players who have not made the cut for the JV (David Fifita, Achurch, Trimarchi, Pulu, Siataga, Waitoa, Davidson etc)!

WT ceo wants one nsw cup team to be known as wt not wests magpies or balmain tigers. Its not like WSDRLFC just said no to an ‘enticing’ offer… It may not matter to balmain aligned supporters but the nsw cup is wests last remaining identity in senior football. Yes, the magpies may not have a choice if ashfield stop support or the independant commission changes u20 or nsw cup structure. Until that happens, wests have still have a desire (and financial ability) to compete on their own. For WT to bail out balmain and ignore the reasons why magpies want to stay ‘alive’ on the playing field is a kick in the teeth for those who feel passionate about a club they followed for decades. I think the wt being an ‘extension of balmain’ perception would be greatly toned down if magpies became the sole feeder side to wt. It would also shut up the diehards that annoy everyone on the forums with their opinion.

Don’t expect them to listen to reason red, they’ll simply keep on whinging about how hard done by Wests are, when at the end of the day Wests management are the cause of the issue in the first place by refusing to merge with Balmain. It’s the price Wests paid to keep alive their own State Cup team. :deadhorse:

And the fact remains that Wests are not the feeder team for WT, so bearing that in mind, why whinge about what you cannot change? What do you hope to achieve from it? Will it achieve anything? Have you voiced your concerns to the WT club? Have you voiced your concerns to Western Suburbs Leagues clubs? You might want to consider these questions before continuing to expend energy on a pointless tirade on here which no one in any power of authority in relation to your so-called plight takes any notice of.

Willow - i am not pointing the finger at forum members, balmain aligned ‘people’ or wt fans. Its venting frustration about an issue that yes is partly due to actions or inactions by WSDRLFC (both past and present) and the situation of campbelltown leagues club board voting with balmain on jv issues. I acknowledge that and i cant change that personally. I think these wt sub forums is the place for these views and opinions. I know you differ personally on how i view these sub forum topics but i appreciate that you offer a platform to dicuss and debate.

You definitely answered your question in sentences 2 and 3. Balmain were prepared to merge and accept whatever conditions came with it. As you say, Wests were not prepared to do so - they’re standing on their own two feet so good luck to them. You talk about fairness in a day and age when professional rugby league is a business, and one which must remain financially viable and competitive. If Wests want to fly it alone, then why should the Wests Tigers pump resources into them if their goal is to support one merged State Cup side?

One side of the joint venture is prepared to conform to this, while one is not. It’s not about fairness, it’s simply smart business management by the Wests Tigers.

I know you’re not pointing the finger at anyone. You’re clearly a passionate Magpies fan which is all well and good. All I’m simply asking is have you raised any of these issues with Wests Magpies or Wests Tigers?

At the end of the day while this forum is a decent place to hang out and discuss Rugby League, we hold no sway with the clubs so I don’t think these types of threads are productive or achieve anything because we hold no influence, and people on here will always differ in their opinion. I know if I felt as strongly about this as you, then I’d be taking my concerns to the clubs involved.
